Fake Leathermans???
on: November 30, 2009, 01:29:21 PM
Hi guys!

A local retailer told me recently to be wary of cheaper leathermans on the market, as they may be fakes. He said that they typically come from china, and have with them realistic markings and pretty decent quality.

Do fake leathermans really exist?

I wouldn't doubt it- we have seen some fake Juices and Waves in the past, so I see no reason why the Skeletool wouldn't be targeted.

But, like the Victorinox Rescue Fakes they shouldn't be too hard to spot if you pay attention to the details.

I've seen fake Juices, Squirts, Micras, PST and the infamous fake Wave.  Many are blatant knock-offs but I've also seen MTs that are copied and rebranded.   Just as Def mentioned, the quality also isn't superb so you should be able to easily spot the fakes.

Great info!

I guess i was just worried that the copiers have increased their standards so much that they are nearly indistinguishable from the real stuff, but looks like that have quite abit more to go :drink:
