The issue is that Ben and Mike live in a part of the Country that really doesn't normally get heavy snow, particularly not at thins time of year (correct me if I'm wrong guys). There doesn't seem to be the infrastructure to deal with it well, not enough ploughs/gritters etc.

It seems that the further North you get and the more likely you are to have snow, the less likely you are to be affected by it. $:-\$

IIRC last year London effectively shut down for a day or two due to some very heavy snowfall in a very short period. Likely it was nothing near as much as some Canadian city's get, but it was overwhelming for a city not expecting it.

Going to work is always fun in the snow as I work out in the sticks and on an early, sometimes I am the first one to drive down any of the roads that are close.

When I lived in the south, snow/ice would shut the whole city down, the city has zero equipment to deal with it. And apparently quite a few southerner's idea of getting his car moving on ice is to gun the gas as much as possible.

Could be worse I suppose, we get more than 8" almost every time it snows, sometimes up to 3 feet in a matter of 10 hours. I love BC

Ahhh, and looking at the vehicles in your photos Ben sheds a bit more light. Most of them are small cars without much weight or ground clearance. Whereas in my town, which is hit with large amounts of snow every winter, there are mostly 4wd light trucks and SUV's. Even many of the passenger cars are all wheel drive.
