Excluding the kick fuse and blast a lot of the newer leathermans I've seen haven't been cosistant in quality( loose screwdrivers on Squirts, grind marks on a micra knife, poor finishing on the bits, Charge handles that don't match, crude OH holes, etc.) I'm willing to bet that wouldn't happen if it was made in one place like Vics are(the worse I've seen on a Vic or Wenger is excess plastic on the scales and thats easily fixed.)

And I'm willing to bet that the one Squirt you've ever had isn't enough to form a judgement that anyone will take seriously ALP  ::)

The reality is, you pre-judge these things based on where they were made and the important things are irrelevant to you.

Don't get me wrong - I think you are entitled to your opinion as much as anyone is, but it ain't half boring reading the same sh1te over and over.....

I have had more than 1...Most were E4s and 1 S4. My first E4 was ok it was an early production one, S4 was ok although the tools could have been better, 2nd e4 I returned it as it had issues, I have 2 NIB E4s which I won't count as they are NIB, had 4 micras and a some others. Also I've seen some ones that other people have had or were for sale locally and 1 out 3 had a problem with it.

I have several st300 no issues with mine. They might be a little rough around the edges, but i use mine, their just tools they get banged up anyway. After a little use they get loosend up nice.

I vote for the SwissTool, and particularly the RS in my case.  They are both great tools though.

It'll surprise nobody that I favour the Supertool 300.

I would say that absolutely every tool on it functions better than the Swisstool. I've practically stopped using a Core on account of this tool. I need a SS one though - I only have the BO so far.

I used to come here a lot.

Well, the ST 300 is basically a rougher Core minus the Zytel too.  And of course it has better wire cutters.  The tool selection is the same.

I have not used my 300 so I can't say yet. I know I do not like the core pliers but perhaps the 300 is stronger

Hi All,

As a Vic collector, I've had their tools for some years.  They are good, but in my experience the Supertool 300 blows the socks off of the Swisstools.  Issues that make me say this way are driver twist strength (or lack of) on the Swisstool and the replacable (non-brittle) wirecutters on the Supertool 300.

Best - Joe

Neck and neck so far.

First the Swisstool goes ahead, then the ST300, and as I type this it's 40 votes to 40.

Clearly 40 people are deluded or haven't experienced the ST300 yet  :P

I used to come here a lot.

The poll only shows 20 votes each when I look at it.  Plus 2 votes each for the other two choices.

One thing that I don’t like on the ST 300 is the blade, it feels so brittle and the factory edge is dull compared to the Swisstool. I did a little test on a plastic box that I had to cut into pieces so I could throw it away and the knife on Swisstool cut through it like it was hot butter while I had to use some force when using the ST 300. But I will give the ST a go with the Lansky and se if that helps.

I never understood people complaining about knives coming blunt, surely if you are actually going to use the damn thing you should know how to sharpen it or be willing to pay someone to?

I can sharpen knives, but I still like them to be sharp from the factory. ;)
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

I can also sharpen knives but when it comes from the factory it should be razor sharp. If the first thing you have to do when you get it from the factory is to sharpen it then something is wrong.

The sharpness thing came up elsewhere and although I can sharpen my knives, I certianly expect them to be sharp when they arrive.  As a cutting tool it seems a poor show if they can't actually cut.

I had the opposite experience. The ST300 is essentially the Core blade, and I've always found them to be hair-shaving sharp. Weird.

I agree too, I expect tools to leave the factory with perfect edges. Using Magnus' logic, you can touch up car paint, but I'd be pissed if my new car was scratched!
