So that little Multitool.org plastic logo is a keychain?  I glued two small magnets on the back of the one you sent me and stuck it to my stereo speaker grill.

Now off to read those reviews..

Def. That sheffield is the exact same as the Lowes Multi. Only diff is the carrabiner. The lowes is sansit and has a driver in its place. Lowes comes with the sheath, and is also only $10

It wouldn't surprise me.  These discount manufacturers sell them to a number of different companies here- anyone who will pay can have it.

Bob and I have noted a few similar models from other companies as well.

It's amazing how cheap this stuff can be... I mean thinking that the steel has to cost a certain amount, and the shipping costs a certain amount, the power to run the machines, let alone the machinery itself, the packaging, the marketing, the markup for the distributors, wholesalers and retailers... all of that has to account for something, which means that the actual cost of the tool, let alone the kids that actually make them...

Dang that's cheap!

The original manufacturer in China probably gets about 50 cents per tool.   ::)

Which makes a person think, "Gee, if they doubled  their quality, and therefore had to double  their price up to $1 per tool, we could be getting a lot better product for only $10.50 at Lowes."

Right?
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

You think the manufacturer gets that much for those?   ???

I was reading a biography of Bruce Lee some time ago and it illustrated how cheap labor is in China.  It seems that during filming of the Big Boss, the props guys had to build a cage, but round dowel cost more than square lumber, so they bought the square stuff and paid laborers for hundreds of man hours to hand carve the square stock down.  Imagine hundreds of man hours being cheaper than the difference between square and round stock!

Of course that was back in the 70's, but still.

Besides, if they could get a reasonably passable product then it wouldn't go for $10... some savvy marketer would back a dump truck load of money up to some gun company executive's house, or NHLPA executive's house for the right to put their logo on it, then sell the $10 tool for $59.95... then when the name was established he'd probably go back to the $.50 tool....

I was reading an article in Business Week about how wages in China went up 40%.  They now average around $160 A MONTH.
