My First Tanto!!!
on: January 15, 2010, 12:54:48 AM
Ok a couple weeks ago I was in Wallmart and decided to see what all the hype is about tantos. Kershaw has a Blut Tanto model that is available there for 48 bucks out the door, and even though it is partially serrated I decided to give it a shot and all I can say is....

WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE!

I love this blade design and it is perfect for doing every one of my cutting Prying and scraping jobs at work. It is an absolute razor that just will go into anything and really is a great blade design. Does anyone else like thiers? I can actually see me goiing on a tanto trip and getting a bunch of them over the next several monthes.

The only gripe about is is serr. blade. I carry one on my MT and that is fine, but this blade is actually really handy. But I still cant really stand serrations.

kershaw doesnt do serrattions to well in my opinion, the ones on the blur are to  aggressive. The ones on the leek and others remind me of a grass cutting sickle.

My ZT serrations are perfect. I love the reverse scallops of them and these are just to "toothy" for me.

I don't have the tanto, but I do have the Kershaw Blue in stonewashed blade (s30v) and it's a great knife.  I love how thin the profile is and it really grips well.  Plus I love recurves. :)

Congrats!

I had a tanto blur like that, ended up selling it cause it just didn't grow on me. I think the regular blade style in non coated would have been better, other than that the blur design rocks.  :tu:

I like the tanto just fine. I think all the ones I`ve had were Emersons RAVEN, SPECWAR, CQC7 and the HMMV-K.
What? Enablers! Are you serrrrious? Where? I dont see any.

I have grown to like tanto's as well.  Never was keen at the start, but like the strength and the nice tip that they offer.
I'm back!!
