1992 Wenger SI
on: June 16, 2007, 10:17:20 PM
Just got a 92 Wenger SI from Tim. When looking over it I noticed that the caplifter is thicker then a 97 I have and the wire bender is missing instead the curve of the caplifter is beveled it looks like a wire striper.
Any thoughts?  Swiss Man

You are right, the sharp edge on the caplifter is the wire stripper and personally I think it is more effective. I like the heavier, unpolished tools on the earlier Soldiers

I've measured the polished and unpolished tools with a caliper, and they don't differ in thickness.  The sharp edges seem to give the impression that they are thicker, but they're not.

I do tend to buy the older Soldiers and Pioneer-series knives though, because the sharp-edged, unpolished tools give a noticeably better "bite" on fasteners.  That wire stripper you mention works very well for striking ferro rods, BTW.
