Wanted to say that I am learning a ton, and happy I am not alone in my obsessions. Have been reading for a while, and have not come across a discussion about belt buckle knives. Are these considered undesireable? I love mine.

Those are sadly illegal here (UK) so that's why you see litle to no talk about them from any of the Brits.

Welcome to the forum.

But welcome!

Welcome!

For the most part it's considered a concealed weapon and is illegal in uhh... everywhere.
Not that anyone would notice you were carrying it, just an additional charge should you be caught with a knife in another man's abdomen. ::)

There was some small mention of the old Gerber belt buckle knife but besides that there's been no chatter.

Most of it probably comes from Chinese makers now, so elitism may be playing a part in that. :D

Off topic??  Watch this...  :P

Buckle knives eh? Sadly we can't carry them as they are considered to be a "concealed weapon" in the UK which is a bit of a bore. We do however still wear belts with non-offensive buckles, often made out of leather which comes from cows. Cows are great things and Switzerland is absolutely full of them you know? They also are responsible for rather splendid chocolate and the manufacturing of some of the finest knives and world in the world, especially Victorinox and Wenger. So not many buckle knives around here but lots of SAKs  :D
