Elinox Question
on: January 31, 2010, 10:39:08 AM
Hi
I've got 2 different Elinox markings

This mark on two 84mm knives

and this one on a 91mm knife

both of them are marked Victorinox - Switzerland - Stainless - Rostfrei on the reverse.
Can someone please help me with a time line for these 2 knives, much appreciated.

This is what I use.

I go to SAKWiki http://www.sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php , select website list, and then I select the "Swiss Army Collector" site listed under Information Sites. Then I click on Victorinox, and then onto the second page. It shows an approximate date with the various markings Victorinox lists.

However, here it is directly.

That other site is very useful and has plenty of other good information.  :salute:

Hi
Been there done that, not one of the 2 stamps is on that list though, or can I take it that all Elinox knives are from 1957.

Here is one more homepage with good information:

http://www.123hjemmeside.no/Victorinox/25311898

It`s the page of our own North Man.
As you can see, the term "Elinox" was used from 1957 until 1978 (alox knives until 1974).
Your kind of stamp was used between 1973 and 1975. It`s a later version of the Elinox stamp.

I usually date Elinox w/ Crossbow as pre-73 and Elinox/Switzerland/Stainless/Rostfrei as early 70s (from NORTHMAN, 73-75).

If you post picks of the entire knives with the tools open, I can probably give you a better date range for both. Tang stamp is just one of several things used to date these.
