Show us your air pistols
on: February 02, 2010, 11:12:37 PM
A while back, Chris (Magic Bus) started a 'Show your air rifles' thread http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,12566.0.html which although had a small response, I found to be pretty interesting.  As I got a new air pistol today I thought I'd start an air pistol thread to see if we get a similar reaction.  :)

Today, after a bit of research, I received my Beeman 2004e Deluxe which is also known as the Marksman 2004 and the Beeman P17.  It is a Chinese copy of the German built Weihrauch HW40 which was also badged as the Beeman P3 for the American market (confusing huh!  :D).  It is a single stroke pneumatic pistol with 0 recoil and is actually very high quality for the money.  I like it a lot.

This is actually my second pistol, my first being a Webley Senior which dates to around the late 40's.  This one is a springer and is a real pleasure to shoot;

So lets see what ya got!  :)
I'm back!!

I'm really liking this Beeman Dave (I can blame you for this one as well  :D).  It's a lot more weighty than I remember.  Quality is pretty good for what is pretty much a gun knock-off.

That was my take on it. I'd actually bought a different pistol that day, but returned it a few hours later and came out with that one. It seems pretty good value for money.

I used to come here a lot.

i had a old webley back in the 80's, i was about 14 and out at work and while working in this old guys house he showed it to me as i was interested in air rifles and knives , when we finished the job he let me have it  :tu: it worked perfectly and i used it in my back garden shooting stuff, mainly plastic bottles, i cant remember the model but it was old, i cant even remember now where it is but possibly its in a large bag in my mums loft, i havnt looked in there in over 20 years, there is a 1;16th scale model of a 60's corvette i made in about 82  :D plus books and stuff, i must have a look,

now what is the price on these beeman's and where to get them  :tu:

You can get a P17/2004e for about £70 I believe from I expect most gun shops.  You'd have to check out what is around you.  I got mine used off of airgunbbs as not only are they considerably cheaper, but that way you can get them delivered.

Yes you do  :pok:

Getting into the hobby can be quite cheap, depending on what you are wanting it for.  Brand new these are only £70 (prices vary place to place) and I think for the money you get a lot of gun.  Being a pneumatic you have no gas to worry about so all you need to get started is the gun and some pellets.

It's a nice hobby to get into and I can see why it has such a large following over here.  Despite the fact that air pistols are the closest thing you are going to get to a "proper" pistol in this country, the options and the amount you can spend are endless.  Pistols can be had from as little as £20 and pellets are ridiculously cheap so to a budget you can still have real fun.  You then can go completely the other way and spend £thousands on a real nice gun and accessorize as you like.

The only problem I have is space  :(, but I have found a club near by that seems to be pretty good that I may take a look into.

I'd hazard a guess and say that webley is worth a few quid Ben

Like a fool I got rid of a tempest and scorpion aways back and a couple of years ago I got rid of a S&W 6",8" barreled revolver  >:(

I may be getting the bug again tho  :D

Prices vary quite widely depending on condition or whether it has a box or not, but I paid £100 for that one including next day delivery and a spare .22 barrel (the one that came was .177) and that seems a good deal.

Nice looking pistols, chaps :tu:

I'm very interested to see just how much easier you find the recoiless one to shoot compared with the springer, Ben.

I'll report back after a bit more of a play Craig.

Sorry Allan.  :D

Airguns through the post is a big no no here, so you may be limited with folks who will send them, even to countries where the VCR act doesn't apply.
