SOG S62 thoughts after one weeks carry
on: February 09, 2010, 02:25:40 PM
Well I now have a S62 and I have some mixed feelings about it,

Yesterday I tried to fit some terminal block in a hurry and discovered there was no tool to do the job, In the end I cut off the plastic surround, and used the can opener bit.  Right then I think onto the SOG site and I'll get me a long terminal driver to fit myself.

I'm rather disappointed that the tool I thought would be greatly customisable has so few alternative implements available, anyone experienced with homemade tools or know if I could get some blanks to make my own

Oh yeah - gotcha. I have the old version of that one too.

I haven't tried using any non-SOG components in any of my SOG tools, but I can relate totally to your "mixed feelings" about them.
I used to come here a lot.

It sounds like what you actually wanted was a Paladin tool, rather than a SOG. Same manufacturer, but with specifically electrical tools, including 110 & 66 punchdown blades. SOG makes them for Paladin Tools, so if you called them direct I bet they could hook you up.

It is cheaper to buy and place on your s-62 the component you need than to buy a paladin pt-540 or 525 or a 510, that is why I love my SOG's. They provide the innovation llloooolll    :D . The only problem I 've faced is that I did not see on paladin's web site the components as it saws on their papers witch came with the tool. I suppose that you can ask for them with a email to the sales.

honestly, I wouldn't have bought a paladin if it wasn't for the wire strippers in the head of the pt-540.

Honestly, no, I got that list after I emailed them, and didn't bother pursuing it any more because the was no components I need.  However I would recommend e-mailing them, as they seem quite approachable (if not particularly used to dealing with private buyers).
