Gator Grip?
on: March 08, 2007, 05:09:17 AM
I remember seeing the commercials on TV and thinking it was total cheese...but it's been years now and I see them in hardware and automotive stores...there must be something to them.  I 'aquired' a spare ratchet in some unclaimed storage at work, and I thought about pairing it up with a Gator Grip and keeping it in my car (to suppliment the huge made in china wal mart tool kit I have in the trunk)   Anyone own/use something like this?

I think there's a multi that you can get in a package with one of those sockets... anyone know for sure?  I seem to remember seeing it before.

I've never tried one of those crazy pin sockets. It looks like another one of those gadgets that might work really really good....   :)

.....or really really bad.  :(

I have actually heard that it's one of the few gadgets originally sold on late night TV that actually works.  Mind you, there are also so many copies of it on the market now that you'd never know if you had the good one or not...

I read a half dozen reviews on Amazon.com about it...it seems to do everything it says.  One detracting comment was that setting a nut was difficult since the pins are spring loaded...but I usually set the nut by hand first, so I don't know what that guy was doing.. ???

We sold the real Gators at my last job. Works the first few times but weakens easily. A cool idea but I wouldn't swap my good sockets for it.

I tried one sometime ago.
I did not like it at all. It maybe ok for the home owner that may use it once or twice a year for something like putting a grill or swing set together.

For everday use at work it did hold up long..

Next time I see one of these I think I might pick it up and give it a shot.

They are on pretty cheap at Home Despot nowadays....
