i dont think a lock is needed on the t-shank holder.
My modded skeletool bitholder holds t-shank blades without any locking mechanism (as i borke the spring on the holder moths ago) just by hand pressure and it works well.
The holder on this tool is essentially the same and works well, too.

sorry thats just me being an engineering apprentice :D

how hard do you have to squeeze the handles to keep it in place though? thats where i ment a lock could be to keep it from opening

That depends on the t-shank blade.
The Momentum created by the perssing the blade onto the cutting is easily held. But as the end of the t-shank is rounded you need some pressure to avoid the blade from coming loose through cam out when pushing the plade forward (as done with saws).
There are few blades which need larger forces while pushing, though. As the blades are meant for jigsaws most of the force is applied while pulling the blade backwards.
In that case the protrusions of the t-shank holder hold the force and there is next to no cam-out.

I am studiing engineering myself but i didn`t do any calculations for that t-shank holder. I just tried and it works for me.

Nuphoria reckons that I should share these pictures of the Leatherman Kick mod I did for her (she hasn't seen it in person yet, so she's assuming I haven't doctored the photos :D)

Really easy to do, and the addition of Pulse scissors makes this Kick a very neat, UK legal EDC. I had to swap a few things around to ensure that nail-nicks could be accessed comfortably and have switched the lanyard ring to the other handle.

I'm currently looking out for another pair of LM scissors to make myself one now :D

Oh boy, that mod ^^^^^^ is soo good.

Nice work, I'm really trying not to get into this modding lark, it looks great fun, but I should retreat now before I get pulled in.........okay bear with me, are there any "how to" threads for any of these mods?  What tools are required etc

There are plenty of threads in this "Mod Squad" forum that will help you, but the guys here will always answer questions if they're able, so don't be shy!

As for tools, I am fortunate enough to have access to a set of Leatherman maintenance tools which make the above very easy indeed, most however have to manage with a couple of Kick pocket clips which can be used as spanners :tu:

They will only work on one end of the Kick, fortunately the end you'll want to get at, but you can't undo the pliers end with the pocket clips sadly.

I used to come here a lot.

As the pocket clips?

Not quite - the proper tools are made from tool steel and are therefore less likely to strip teeth etc. They also have the small screw fitting at one end, and the larger size at the other.

For the Micra I have the LM issued sockets.

You can see them here after helping me to take Ben;s Supertool and Micra apart (when he pays me I'll put them back together :D):

Blimey - where did you find that pic? Lol.

OK - there are two small ratchets which appear to have some sort of torx bits in them, the black handled tools are 5-pointed security torx, and the sockets either side of the top one are the Micra sockets you can see on the ratchets in the pic I posted earlier :)

None of them have anything to do with the PST that is in bits at the bottom of the pic, so I guess I'd been disassembling something like an old Charge or a Sideclip or something before hand - honestly can't remember

I've just completed a little project I've been working on and deliberating over for months! It all started with an old knackered Charge XTi that I picked up on ebay a couple of years ago. The pliers were knackered, blades were scratched and worn, and somebody had clearly tried to fix it up a bit before I did as a couple of the pins in the centre of the security torx fittings (the 5 pointed ones) were snapped off and the screw heads rounded etc, etc.

They also seem to have used some thread locker that is stronger than my security torx tools (two broken on this project, including one of the ones Ryan sent me the other day) :( So yesterday, I decided ot bite the bullet and drill the fixings out - I got through a few bits, but got there in the end.

I'd accumulated most of the fittings and tools I needed for my mod and when the scissors that Gareth sent me arrived this morning, it was time to finally build it.

Ladies and Gents, I give you... the Charge DTi (geddit? :D)

So we have a nice S30V blade, crimperless plier head, black fixings (now 6-point instead of 5) with the internal tool selection of the Charge Ti / TTi. So I guess that makes it a Ti with premium S30V blade and cutting hook, or a TTi without the crimpers!

I like DTi ;)

That looks great Dave  :tu:

While I have no problem with the crimper in the plier head if I was given the choice I'd probably go with out.
