Victorinox Limited edition guide
on: March 08, 2010, 05:44:04 AM
I am a SAK enthusiast, as you will all find out, but I have a very common problem that I can't seem to find an answer to.

I am looking at buying a knife, but I can't figure out what edition it is.  It is a silver alox companion with no keyring, and the logo is engraved, it is not the standard Vic logo, it is a V shaped shield with a V inside of it.  I would post a pic, but that will give away the site it is on and I don't want chako to go and buy it out from under me!  :pok:   When I get it I will post a pic.

Anyway, the topic I want to start is a listing of all Victorinox special edition knives and the year they were introduced.  Whaddya got guys?

OK, so maybe it is but sorry to burst your bubble there are probably several buyers watching this thing. I do not plan on bidding for sure.

The shield looks like it was put on "aftermarket" if you understand what I mean. I have never seen this type before. There are a couple of special shields that Victorinox has produced over the years but this is the first etched one I have seen like this.

Yea that's it.  If it is aftermarket i don't want it.  Are you sure?  I think I saw one like this somewhere else.

I'd put money on that being after-market.
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

Yes it looks aftermarket to me also. I never undercut another member once they say they are going for something.

I have my principles. :D

I knew you would say that.    :D  I didn't bid on it, I don't need another small Vic unless it is something special.  I am still a newbie collector, so from time to time I will ask these silly questions!   :twak:  Thanks for the help guys.

Not that I'm an expert either but I'd put money down on that being a after-market job.  Nice enough though.

It looks like a sweet knive for dress carry, but I could probably pick up 2 other SAK's on ebay for the final price of that one.  I just don't need another 58mm right now.

@Chako, no offense intended, I was just poking fun!

@Gareth,  Off topic:  do you read R.A. Salvatore?  that is the only place I have seen the name Gareth.

many years ago, didn't he write the Drizzit (sp?) books?  it's actually my real name and comes from Wales, as does some of my family.  Lots of people called Gareth in Wales but it's not so common anywhere else.

Give me a break, it's been about 20 years since I read them. :D  No offence to any Drizzt fans out there (or Drizzt himself  ;)).

Well if you read the Sellswords trilogy by Salvatore, it's in the same world as Drizzt just a different area(artemis entreri and jarlaxle are the main characters), the King of Bloodstone is King Gareth.

I shall now call you King Gareth.   :salute:

I have now revealed to the forum my nerdism in all it's glory.

@Freudianfrog:  have you read the entire Legend of Drizzt?  IE the Dark elf trilogy and so on (getting nerdier here!)

I love the beard.  Without mine, I would look like a fat teenager!  Luckily my wife likes my beard too, so there is no threat of having to shave...

Gareth, I'm sorry,  King Gareth, are you a firefighter?  Or is that just a wicked paintjob?

No I'm not unfortunately (a bad knee :() but my father is a retired fireman, and my step-mother still works for the service, so that was me taking my wee one on a visit to see a station.  She thinks fire engines are cool. 8)

I would like to be a fireman here in the states, but I can't be for the same reason that kept me out of the service.  Asthma.  A lot of our boys in the Military tell me that I should just lie and get in anyway, but the penalties for doing so outweigh the benefits of being a bullet stopper!  The last thing I want is a Dishonorable discharge for a medical issue.

I think it's cool to take your kids out and show them the world, my little boy is just amazed by everything.  He is a year and a half, so that may last awhile.
