It,s a very old (1940-50) rudge single speed town bike i,m trying to identify what model it is at the moment.

best bit though it was only £5 :grin: :grin:

once i,ve slightly restored it it should be worth ten times that

It doesn't look like it should take much restoring- what's wrong with it, an what are you planning on doing to it?  That's a heck of a score... I wonder what international shipping on it would be?

it just need a general tidy up and some new paint, and thats it!

i need to find an imperial measure multitool to take it apart though ;D ;D

plus its that robust i doubt even you can break it def!

Are you planning on a color change or try to match the existing color?  How does the chain look?  Is it rusted badly or just in need of a good cleaning/lubrication?

GREAT SCORE!!!!!! I've seen bikes much newer in far worse shape,she looks like she's ready to ride now with just a bit of TLC. There's some WW2 re-enactors that would give their eyeteeth,and a good bit of cash too for one. Rudge is a good old name,  IIRC the  founder split off from Raleigh to  start his own company.
If you ever decide you want to get rid of it..pack it up and mail it to America...I know a bike orphanage that would give it a good loving home!

i,m gona try and colour match it if possible, the original had FOUR coats of paint before it left the factory!

it,s ridable, now rhe chains quite new, but because of the geometry it feels a little weird to ride compared to more modern stuff.

i,m skint at the moment so it,ll be a case of restoring it as and when i,ve got the time and money, but i wana do a good job by the old gal!

  I don't know what replacement parts you may need yet,but today I visited a shop I hadn't visited before,and back in a corner were some Sturmey-Archer parts bagged on a header card.Next time I go back,I'll see just exactly what they are,and let you know what they have if you should want or need them.

its only a single speed, and the front hub dynomo is made by someone i,ve never heard of, so there are no Sturmey-Archer parts, thanks for the offer though mate

Your find tops anything I've come across yet,though yesterday I thought I'd hit a trove myself.I ran across a mid 80s Ross that had an Ishiwata 024 frame.I was hoping it was one of the models equipped with Campagnolo components..but instead it had Shimano Altus TL components..close but no cigar.

the shimano,s still a good set up, it,ll be more reliable than the Campagnolo components it,ll just lack the latin charms ;D
