First go at wooden scales,
on: March 25, 2010, 06:16:16 PM
Ive wanted to have a go at this for a while now, well most of my tools was in the back of my shed and its pouring down, so i used my wave, my dremel type drill with cutter and the sander and sand paper, i must admit i loved doing this , this was my first go , i had a bit of trouble with the cut outs underneath but got there in the end,and i used some wood i had in a cupboard  :D

thanks for looking,

paul

still need glueing on but nearly there,

great work bro :tu:
I did that some years back to a Victorinox, they are easier, they don´t have that much rivets in the handle.
Mine was made from Rosewood.

Do that someday again with Micarta or G10 :)

yeah argento Micarta would be nice and your rosewood is much nicer than what i used, but i was limited on tools today and just went for it  :D it wasnt that hard, and was fun, reminded me of being back in wood class at school, now that was a few years ago  :D

You need to have a word with Mr. Bee and ask him for some scrap liners. They make the best templates going ;)

Hint one... if you can smell it, you're breathing it; dust masks are your best mate :D   Not the end of the world with most of the bits of wood you're likely to find kicking around in your shed but some of the exotics can be quite nasty  :ahhh

Hint two... if your work environment ends up like Dave's garage last year buy an extra fire extinguisher :P

:D

That dust has buggered up my belt sander now. It wouldn't be so bad, except I owe Dennis a custom scaled SAK which he's waited months for  :-[

I think I might have to bite the bullet and get a new one, as it's a cheap one and I can't find any replacement parts for it (don't ask why I need parts, suffice it to say that whilst "servicing" it, it bit me, and I exacted some revenge)......

Worse than that has been the missus' reaction though. It was getting all those climbers for last year's meet done that's to blame :D
I used to come here a lot.
