2 Interesting Finds
on: March 31, 2010, 02:39:27 PM
First up this "patriot" but with cellidor scales, exposed rivets and brass liners, the front tang is stamped Wenger - Delemont - Switzerland and the rear is stamped Wengerinox with the crossbow, the word FORS is metal inlayed on the front scale.
its still in nice nick although the main blade has been sharpened once to many. This one is definitely one of the sturdiest Wenger's I've held, very solid.

next up is a "Bantam" but with a bottle opener/screwdriver,I had to re profile the main blade as the tip was chipped,I haven't seen any of these two before.

listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky,
is by no means a waste of time

Very nice find on both SAKs, meanx; the reverse-crimp bottle opener-equipped Bantam existed for a short period of time until the combo tool design found its way into SAKs.  :tu:

Thanks for the info,do you maybe have a time frame for that as I can't find anything on SakWiki.

Update,I'm not sure if I can use SAAM's as a time frame as its for 91mm knives.

These appear to have been in use for a fairly short time at some point at the very end of the '70's to perhaps the very early '80's.

You can see them being used on this page on both the Waiter and the Tourist.

I've noticed that but then the tang stamp suggests 1973-1975 according to my reading,so I think  "Vintage" will do  :D,then another questing begs, was it called a Bantam back then.

Hi

Nice finds!!

The stamping on the Vic should be for the eco model 1973-1975 and yours look to have the correct emblem that is melted or called hot stamp started in 1979, ateast it looks so if you check and with some other info here already sad maybe a knife made in 1979-1980, i think we can expect that knives made in that period may have used blades that old, not sure.

Great job on reprofiling that blade. I don't think I would have noticed if you hadn't mentioned it.

I took some better looking scales of a knife with more or less the same age to get some nicer shots.

It looks a lot prettier now that its nicely dressed  :D
