For seiko 6309/diver fans
on: April 06, 2010, 10:13:00 AM
There has been a lot of interest in mine and others 6309's so i thought i would talk about mine and a few pics, mine was given to me by a good friend, he fitted a NOS seiko movement in it plus he got it with the yobokies mil 24hr dial and yobokies hands, the chapter ring ive changed a few times but ended up with the polished brass one as i like it this way, i fitted a acrylic domed crystal as wanted a domed one plus wanted one thats easy to polish out marks and scratches,i also fitted fixed steel strap bars as i dont trust spring bars as have had them failed before, i also brushed the case, i manily use nato style straps as prefer them as there solid and last a long time, the 17j movement in these old seiko's last a long time plus keep good time, you can still easily pick up NOS movements for these and generally works out cheaper than a service, but TBH they go on for years, you cant go wrong with these old classic divers, mine is a 1985 6309-7290 this is a slightly slimmer  cushion case .Thanks for reading ,this is my favorite ECD and never leaves my wrist unless i wash the strap  :D  :tu:

paul

thanks for looking  :tu:

I think the larger watches would be a little too chunky for me but I really like the dial on yours.  Most watches I see have too much going on.  I want marks for the minutes and some numbers... that's it :)

I can certainly see why you like it :tu:
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

Nice watch!  My only Seiko is my Orange Monster, which I doubt I will ever part with, despite occasionally musing about the possibility.....

Of course, now we also need pics of that Stratocaster!  :P

Didn't realize the links were the screw out kind.  I figured they were pressed in.  The corkscrew driver on a sak is the perfect size to remove the screws.  Now it fits perfectly.

I'll get some Macro shots of it later when the baby goes to bed.    From my research everything on it looks legit.

+1 to the guitar pics. The furthest I went with mine was swapping out the pickups (went for EMG's which were 4 times the value of the guitar ).
I'm back!!

6309's ryan can go from as little as £50 for Philippine bodge ups, to over £300 for a good one, modded depends on what has been done, mines got a yobokies dial and hands, had a new bezel insert, NOS movement, new gasket set, i changed the chapter ring a few times,  i did the fixed bars on it, so price who knows mate, but getting a good one cheap is not a easy thing, buying a dog rough one cheap is, just watch out for cheap ones from the  Philippine as usualy have the movements bogded on them and all wrong parts,

ok my guitar, i did the usualy as i re -sprayed it alter the shape of the neck, and changed the electrics to award session bluestone 4, it widens the tone sounds, but isnt a major change but still different than stock, the original guitar was a , i it in bits and built it over time, most parts from WD http://www.wdmusic.com/bodies_necks.html i built this back in 05 when i had a bit of spare money, although i hardly play now and it sits in the cupboard i still wont part with it, im actualy a drum player originally but always fiddle with guitars, ill try and do some pics later  :tu:
