Wenger Blackout 63.
on: April 11, 2010, 09:28:26 AM
Okay, I've seen this knife in a few stores - for anyone wondering it's basically a Wenger "Waiter" with evolution scales all in black (scales, blades, & tools)

Is there something magical about the coating? is their a fancy scale material involved? why the heck does it cost four times as much as a regular SAK?

The PVD coating would be quite expensive (it is for everything else).  I think this may be a limited edition, they know it could not be a regular version at that price.

What exactly is the price there?  These look like a Australian exclusive.

... if anyone can get one at a good price I'd be interested.

Have you seen one up close in person and able to handle it? I have not but have seen the photos. Perhaps it is of the "Soft Touch" variety which has a neoprene type coating that adds extra grip?

It looks like it is a Soft Touch SAK but look at the price of it!  Even compared to the other Soft Touch SAKs it's hugely expensive. :o

A quick money converter says that it's over $165 US.  That had better be one heck of a good metal tin in comes in. ::)

I think it would be a limited run of PVD coated tools rather than the scales that would be driving the price.

I think you must be right.  Ironically I think it would look better without the black tools but that's a matter of personal taste.

I have two Very Limited Edition Wenger Blackout 63. From what I understand these are real collectors pieces but I have no idea of the value. If anyone has any info or is interested please email me on blackswanshop@hotmail.co.uk
