What do you have against a saw, if I may ask?

Maybe its just me (and Gareth! :D) but I just don't see the point in puny little wood saws. :P I mean, in order to get a decent stroke on the saw, the diameter of the object being cut should be about half the length of the saw blade or less. And if its that small, why not just break it? ::)

I must confess that I've never ever not once felt it necessary to use the saw on my KF4 (but I've had numerous occasions when I wished it had a pair of scissors) Hence the swap on this mod. :)

In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

WOWSERS Bob , that is looking Brilliant

I have been wondering about how hard it would be to put a thumb stud on a Buck110 I have on the way. Sounds a bit tricky :(

Bob GREAT work mate  :salute: :salute:

I remember there being a third-party thumbstud kit you could purchase to add to a THO blade, but I forget the name of it. :/
I believe it was called the "One Armed Bandit". I tried one on a Buck 110 years ago and it works sometimes, but a couple times I badly cut my thumb while attempting to OHO.

Just today I used my Wave's saw to cut off some dowel rods that used to hold my platform bed together.  It was in a small space, and there wouldn't have been an effective way to snap them off, so out came the saw.

I often find myself using the saw on goofy little things like saplings in our flower beds, thin trim board, dowels, what have you.

Then again, it isn't a Juice saw either, which are a bit more puny and flexy :P

I hope this is a fast week, as this mod makes me a-twitter with anticipation!  But after this...you have to call it something other than a "Juice"!  Juice is such a girly, mamby-pamby name for a multi...and this is a much cooler version :)

The Juice saw works great on Blackberry canes.

Just sayin'

Ah ha, I see. Thanks for that.

I have no experience with a juice saw but I sure do with the saw on my wave and it seems pretty useful to me. But it does lock on the wave and it is a little more beefier on the wave I'm told.

Anyhow, do what you have to do and I'm looking forward to the end result  :tu:

Bob this looks like it will be a truly useful yet beautiful tool  :salute: :tu:

I really hope someone in Leatherman's R&D department takes a look at this :D I think the Juice range has so much potential especially for us poor UKites  :-\

I almost cried a single tear when I saw that lovely purple XE6 in bits on the operating table  but I realise its sacrifice is for the betterment of Leathermankind; I salute you XE6  :salute:

Made some definite progress today, but in the end it fell just short of the goal. :-\ And for such a silly reason too..... :P

The whole story:
I finished machining the backsides of the scales this morning, which went much easier than anticipated. :) Then came assembly time! Yay, this ought to be fun, right? WRONG! :P After spending over an hour fighting The Battle Of The Backsprings, it was back to the shop to make a little assembly jig. Then things were proceeding nicely again, until it became apparent that my pivot screws are too short. The ones I bought from www.knifekits.com are one half inch long:

Unfortunately, it appears they need to be just a little bit longer. :( These are already the longest ones knifekits sells, so I'll have to make my own. :(

In the mean time though, I was able to assemble up the first layer and the pliers layer, just to get a feel for it. Here's a few pics. (keep in mind there are no back scales in place yet)

Showing cap screw being used as thumb stud

Pliers deployed

Screwdrivers

Special blade load out for Mike LOTS :D

Do you think the pivot screws will be long enough for a S2?  should be right, I could go measure, but it's so much easier just to type and ask!

Yep, they'd be plenty long enough for a single-blade-layer tool like an S2 or C2 :tu:

It's only when trying to add a second layer of blades that they come up short. :-\
