Thank you both for the comments.
The guy who modded it said this, "Casio G-Shock DW-5000R that has had its black bezel and strap replaced by a OEM Casio G-Shock green bezel and strap along with OEM Casio G-Shock bull bars (from a DW-5600P-9)."
Rest in peace ColoSwiss, you will always be remembered.

Casio has incredible warranty service.  I sent one of mine in to the regional service center for a battery change and some service and I had it back in 10 days.

Looks like the days of buying a cheap beater-type Casio from W-Mart is about over.  This is the boring update of the Casio display near my house on Werecoyote Trail.  The house is on Werecoyote Trail, not the watches.  Anyway, there are about 25 left.  Not all are in their correct places.  I just noticed that there are a couple of the $16.88 cheapies in higher priced slots.  I thought they were all gone.
You can see a few Timex and Armitron on the right-hand side of the photo.  Not many of either of them.  Looks like people might be anticipating a price increase?  W-Mart hasn't restocked any of the three brands of watches.
My old Casio is still ticking and the band hasn't broken yet.  I suppose it will fill in for a while longer.  Best wishes.  G

I always go for the military style analog/digital style.
Big display and all that.  I want to be able to see what time it is without having to put my cheaters on.
Current watch is a Walmart beater that I got for around ten bucks.  Chrome plating is wearing off of the bronze case but there's not a single mark on the crystal

I like a nice watch but I'm also cheap.

Me too.  They have an 80's feel to them!  Remember the Casio calculator watch?  They were banned in my math class

When I was in primary school, there was casio remote control watch that my classmates switch off the tv showing education programmes and the teacher had no clue why the tv was off (and cannot turn on without a remote, which was the case).

That's a decent selection Gary!  I've always had good luck with Casio watches.

I was afraid for a while there, Barry.  Looked like they were going to just sell off the current stock and forget about them.  There were very few Timex watches and not many Armitrons.  If my current Casio finally poops out or breaks a band, I will likely pick out one of the cheap Casios to replace it.  A new G would be better, but a Casio Illuminator might fill in.
Best wishes.  G

I was wondering the same thing.  Other than online, I haven't seen a Timex for sale.  Armitron is another one.  I always had good luck with the Illuminaters.  Never had one break on me, and I put them through a lot.

I have a bunch of mechanical watches, but since I got this I hardly wear anything else.

Looks good as new.  It is hard to see the hands on some of the CASIO watches.  The dial is too busy with things and the hands blend in or something.  This one is easy to read.  Do you always wear a watch with the face turned down?  I think I tried it once when I was a sprout.

I think its looking better now. Ive put a soft strap on it, and black one that matches my Royale. It's just sooo much more comfortable. Photos to follow.

Yeah, i always wear my watches face down. I can't remember when I started,  but probably before I finished high school. One of my wrist bones is quite prominent and bigger watches can be uncomfortable face up.

I've been looking into the idea of buying a new G Shock, and yeah Gary, 100% on the analogue dials on the Gs. Just so busy with maybe the exception of the Casioaks.

You and me both. I love the look of my GD-400-1, but I've realized I very strongly prefer an electroluminescent backlight.
