Studio MekTek, in association with Smith and Tinker, INC., Virtual World Entertainment, LLC, Catalyst Game Labs, and Microsoft Games, is happy to announce the release of Mechwarrior4 Free.

Getting started is easy. Just download and install MTX, MekTek's free content delivery and updating system. Once installed, simply click the Games Available tab, select Mechwarrior4: Mercenaries and click install. The game will download and install, all within MTX, and as updates become available, MTX will help you keep your game up to date.

Have just seen the news, guess I need to dig out my joystick, and reboot into windows!

Is it just me that got the MekTek X program to download, but it doesn't come up with the game in the "Games you can install" list?  Am I doing something wrong, or is it just that their server's overloaded?

Forget it, I've got it now. :)

I haven't had a chance to give it a go yet... unfortunately the mektekx program doesn't like wine, even though it installed ok.

I'm busy trying to move some files around to re-organize our hard-drives (and contemplating a new 1.5TB disk)... Ideally I'd also like to upgrade my ram, (swap out 2x512mb for 2x2gb, making a total of 6gb) and installing 64 bit operating systems... something I've put off for a long time!

ive not played before ,but i downloaded it yesterday so ill have a go later, im a bit GTA SA obsessed  :D have been since it came out, ive had it on my pc for years and modded the whole game  :tu:

It is hosted elsewhere on the web (legitimately that is). I have a copy on my machine. Takes some fiddling to get it to play nice with my newer video card.

Loved the MW series and 4 was pretty good. Shame they aren't making them anymore.

From the thread title I got excited thinking someone had developed a new multitool and then I open the thread and it's just some kind of a game. Not a gamer. This does nothing for me. :dunno:

For some alternative Inner Sphere action I saw BATTLETECH is heavily discounted on Steam until the end of the year.  Just downloaded it an so far it's fun.  Turn based tactical game rather than FPS mind you, but that's the same as the original board game the whole thing is based on.

I seem to recall the old battletech games being like that too, not sure I have the patience for it these days.

Watched a lot of test play footage of the new mechwarrior, looks pretty awesome, but perhaps a little too complex for my current gaming tastes.

so, MW5 Mercs is 30% off on the Epic store right now, but, you can also get GTA V for free, if you get GTA V, you get a coupon for 10eur off, which means you could get MW5 even cheaper!

Or some other game, coupon applies to games worth 15eur+ and is valid until November.

I grabbed GTA V, still undecided on what I might want from the epic store... I've had my eye on Satisfactory for a while, it's currently 10% off, plus voucher might be worthwhile.

Just watched the Unreal Engine 5 demo... wow that has come a long way since the first Unreal... but even then it was obvious there was so much potential!
