Kershaw Select Fire initial thoughts mini review

Kershaw Select Fire a bit driver snapped on a full size knife.

The blade on this thing is huge 3 3/8 (my biggest folder, medium sized hands, I prefer smaller blades).
Chinese 8Cr13MoV steel, came sharp out of the box and it doesn't have a cheap feel to it.
The blade opens smoothly with a thumb stud and it locks up solidly with a liner lock with no play.
The bit driver located on the back opens smoothly, has a half stop and finally rests in the open position.
The bits are held in place by a magnet, and release with some resistance.
There is a ruler on both sides of the driver shaft, going up to 4 cm or 1 6/8. 
There are two philips and two flathead bits included on the sides on the knife, nested in a spring loaded storage compartments. 
The belt clip is strong and can be switched to the other side, but only in tip down carry.
The knife is assembled with hex screws and should be easy to adjust if need be.

For the price paid ($23) it's a very good purchase, but it won't replace my Skeletool in edc role.
Some more extensive use and testing are needed to tell if this is just a gimmick or a serious tool.

Probably just easier (and cheaper) to use the standard size. Means you get to swap 'em out too.

I like it! Kinda different and unique. You Got to give it to the Kershaw guys, they really know how to put stuff out there, and make neat stuff.

Got it from knifecenter, they had it on the main page when I was browsing for sharps.

Probably just easier (and cheaper) to use the standard size. Means you get to swap 'em out too.

I'm guessing the same thing, easier to replace if lost or other types of bits are needed, hex, torx, etc...

Haven't been carrying it much due to it's size, I prefer 2-3" blades for edc. It has been holding up well to the light tasks I've been putting it through around the house. I'll pull it out tomorrow after work and give it a look over and do some cutting and twisting

p.s. The price is right, if it won't fit into your edc rotation it will make a great around the house or car utility knife.

Your exactly right. . the reason we didn't go to a specialized bit is because we wanted a person to be able to go to any hardware store and buy replacements, and/or customize it to carry torx, alen .  . .whatever you need. We also were trying to build a multitool that was first and foremost a knife. Glad to hear you guys like it
