Weights, left to right...  32g, 78g, 56g, 144g, 153g

www.royalmail.com will provide you with what it'll cost or ask :)

You pay the postage at cost and they're yours, either one or two or the lot I don't mind.

Only available to those eighteen years old and above, 'tis the law an all that :police:
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

Going from left to right, three is taken, four is being thought about and five has gone :D

I'm surprised nobody fancies sorting out the tip on that Japanese knife, if it wasn't for the fact its a locker I'd be keeping it to play with myself.

I've been looking at that one from the start, but haven't replied for that exact reason..  :)

If Tony doesn't want number four* I'll take it off your hands.  Again I'll just take it at the meet-up if it's still free.

But if you do fancy it mate don't bow out on my behalf. :tu:

Neil,
Thanks for this Mate!  :cheers:

Looking at it this knife had been a bit of a beater, up close you could see where the blade had been used for prying or as a screwdriver and the back has been used as a hammer which was a shame as the knife has a nice feel to it

This is what it looks like now, I reground the edge and added a wire stripping slot (this might change)  :think:

I also need to oil the wood     :)

It's not half as sharp as the knife,
But it is good enough to strip PVC cables with your thumb pressing the cable down if that makes sense,
Its not quite finished yet,
one of the scales is being glued and clamped as we speak then I will clean and oil the wood  :cheers:

Looks good Tony  :tu:

I gave mine a quick clean up as best as my limited skills and knowledge could :)

Got most of the rust off with light steel wool and cleaned the metal with Peek Metal Polish.

Any advice on how to restore it to its former glory?

I can tell you what I did to mine if you like  :salute:

First I used a grinder and a 'Dremel' on the blade as it needed a bit of work,
Then I used a polishing mop on a grinder which makes life easy,
Then gave it a good wash with soap and water and let it dry,
I eased some glue under one of the scales and clamped it overnight,
The wood was looking a bit dry so I treated it with some olive oil (first time I've tried this),
Then gave it a bit of a polish with some 'brasso' type of cleaner,
Then took lots of pictures and binned most of them,  ::)
Was yours number 4?
don't forget all the above jobs can be done by hand with a little patience (I'm just lazy)  :cheers:

Thanks Tony  :salute: Sounds very thorough

Yep 3 & 4 :)

3's blade is pretty bad whereas 4's handle is badly tarnished. Also 4's lock is really stiff  :-\

Can I put them in a basin of hot water and Fairy Liquid? Can they be left overnight? If so what about drying? Air dry or hair dry [er] :D

Big thanks to Neil  :cheers: :tu: I am enjoying my first clean up :D

I would use some water, fairy and a nail brush, do not let them soak and dry in a cloth afterwards,

If that doesn't clean them enough try some fine wire wool, you could try the wool with some olive oil if you have any on the wood  :salute:

PS Air dry no heat

PPS  Plastic pan scourers can be viscous little buggers and have been known to scratch metal

I just sitting here thinking about tools,  :think:
Thoughts are sometimes I take tools for granted so as I don't know what you have available to use where you are this might be of some use

Cleaning;
If you get an old tooth brush you can use a lot of different things to clean/polish;
Tooth paste, kitchen cream cleaner/vim, T-cut (for polishing out scratches in cars)

Sharpening/shapeing metal;
If you get a flat piece of wood (¾ MDF is perfect, 18mm to you)
Glue a bit of emery cloth/wet an dry to it (good for sharpening chisels and planes as well)

If any one else has any good ideas please add! :tu:
