The BO version is not only sexy, but a lot better than the shiny versions in terms of hand grip which takes an already great MT into the realms of perfection. The BO version (I got this one used) gives the Swisstool a gorgeous patina.

Some old pics of my first BO SwissTool , an Australian Army issue tool  8) 8). Now serving under Captain Dunk in the UK  :D . Tricky beast to take pics of , the BO has faded but not evenly & gives the tool a ghost like grey appearance that is tough too capture.

wow those are nice pictures,  they look like tarnish silver or pewter.  I had a bo sog when it wore down it was more of a dull matte color compared to those swisstools in the pics.

It's surprising how much variance there is in the way BO tools wear - between manufacturers and even between tools from the same manufacturer!

For example, the older Leatherman BO tools (Mini, Supertool etc) seem to wear similarly to the Swisstool in Mat's pics, whereas the newer tools like the Wave seem to have a much more dull "matt" effect.

I'm not sure if its due to the treatment process, or the steel or what, but they all generally do look good :)

I tend to prefer the dull worn look of bo instead of the shiny stuff that always reminds of those car that changes colors depending what angle the liight hits it.  How is the wear on the bo on swiss tools.  My sog wears well  my leatherman not so much.

Amici,
Does anyone know if the Swistool X is available in black oxide? So far it doesn't look like it..

Cheers,
Serge

Nope, the only BO Swisstool is the S model, as it was allegedly designed for military use.

Amici,
Question about the black oxide coating applied to swiss tools, are they as sloppy a job as reported they are on Leatherman tools?

Meaning I have read posts of those who own LM tools that have MTs with black oxide coating which tends to rub off on the users hands unless they wipe it down before immediate use.

I am curious if any Vic users have encountered the same issue. Although not really a big deal, but something to take into account if that's the case before you buy any black oxide tool from any maker.

Cheers,
Serge

Serge mate, that is as standard as it can get with any BO tool I've ever handled... I mean, coating rubbing off when the tool is brand new. Nothing to worry about, and nothing that can't be remedied with some elbow grease. ;)

Nice pics!!!!   I picked up one of your BO Swisstools brothers.  I hope to post some pics soon.  I agree cgjones was a great seller and the transaction went well.

Amici,
Well my BO Swisstool S arrived today and although it's very impressive, I think I will be returning it since I just love the functionality of the Swisstool X over that of the BO S model and that keyword is scissors..

Although It's still nice piece and the BO finish alone is better than anything I've seen on a LM hands down, I think in the end I just prefer my current Swiss monster in the bright..

Cheers,
Serge

Finally managed to upload the pictures of the BO Swisstool I bought myself for Father's Day side by side with its older brother.

Then, a closeup of the sheath that came with it.

And the 2 sheaths I use to carry the two brothers.
