It’s a nice old made in Sheffield knife,

I can’t read the makers stamp on the tang except for Sheffield England with BR(W) on the reverse
Jigged bone with a 3’’ blade and a very strong back spring  :tu:

So, me and my girls took a bikeride to our local supermarket. I have a wagon that i tow with my bike, and girls sit in ther. Anyway. Supermarket had 1kg hammers for 1€ a piece. I took six of them. Those and groceries with my girls on board, was not easy way home.

Today i went back, and ended getting nine more, plus 2 1,5kg hammers. So now i have fifteen 1kg and two 1,5kg hammers :D

That looks really nice Crow,  :tu:   loving the brass

I did hardly anything to it when I got it except lightly sharpen and oiled the handle,
Feels great to use but the head did loosen on Wed,
So I worked on it yesterday, the handle had a small split so I had to cut the fawns foot back a bit, but I'm still pleased as I think this is the original handle from 67  :tu:

Pictures later when I get back from this mornings Bootie  ;)

Good looking haul. Never seen that kind of hammer before.

It was a new one to me too
I was having a chat with a 65/70year old Man this morning about it, he said that when he was a kid, the coal was delivered to his house, his Mother would get him to break up the large pieces with one to fit the fire better  :tu:

I got all these at a flea market today from different sellers. I've never seen any early SAKs in the wild prior to today and now I have 2. Quite pleased -

Also picked up a Camillus hawkbill w/ liner-lock & bakelite scales and what appears to be a German market stiletto (short main blade) w/ sheepsfoot secondary blade. Plus, it is a slip-joint!

Hi, I'm new.

Thank you, the SAKs are definitely the nicest ones I own. I collect stilettos and have nothing similar to the oddball slip-joint so it too is a keeper as is the hawk. I've had a few hawks and they are quite handy but never one with a liner-lock so it too goes into the keep pile.

I rotate going to various flea markets, this one had ~90+ sellers. Some are larger and some smaller. This one and one other always yield good knives while others are picked clean. By this I posit there are other knife guys in the area. Reminds me of territorial animals and you know their presence by the absence of things.

 ;)
