Are the fine wires like a pilot light

How long can the wires remain 'lighters' before you need the heat them up again

Surely you do not need another fire source to use the bugger

Apparently a catalytic reaction between the platinum wires and the methanol fumes causes the wire to heat up to the point that it can ignite.

I have been relAXing the past few days

If anyone missed my Bill hook in the Micarta thread here it is finished, with an Ax from the carboot a week or so ago and another that's been on my to do list,
It had been mistreated, the head had done more hammering than chopping and the handle was battered and loose, I was going to replace the handle but after a play its looking a lot better

The handle was very beaten up and dirty to begin with but after I sanded it down it didn't look too bad, I'm pleased that I had a go at cleaning it up

Thanks Neil I think this is the best Micarta handle I have done so far
I will bring it to the meet in my 'Bucket of Choppers'

Great haul this morning

Ruck sack, little kettle and a gas lamp to try out at the meet
A couple of picture frames that can be used to display 'stuff'

Note pads and pens and a Shoe polish brush
A micrometer, Spanish knife and another Ax head

A Japanese pen knife

And a bunch of SAKs
