+1  :ahhh :D :D :D.

Are the fine wires like a pilot light  :think: :think: How long can the wires remain 'lighters' before you need the heat them up again  :think: :think:
Surely you do not need another fire source to use the bugger :think: :think: :think:

Apparently a catalytic reaction between the platinum wires and the methanol fumes causes the wire to heat up to the point that it can ignite.

Good to know. :salute: I'll be sure to leave my platinum wires at home next time I visit the methanol plant. :)

I have been relAXing the past few days  ;)

If anyone missed my Bill hook in the Micarta thread here it is finished, with an Ax from the carboot a week or so ago and another that's been on my to do list,
It had been mistreated, the head had done more hammering than chopping and the handle was battered and loose, I was going to replace the handle but after a play its looking a lot better  :tu:

The handle was very beaten up and dirty to begin with but after I sanded it down it didn't look too bad, I'm pleased that I had a go at cleaning it up  :)

Thanks Neil I think this is the best Micarta handle I have done so far
I will bring it to the meet in my 'Bucket of Choppers'  :D

I'm not sure about the 'trade mark' but theres a bit about the company and products here  :salute:

http://www.footprint-tools.co.uk/Products/wrenches.htm

I have a woodworking plane made by Footprint . It was my Grandfathers and he died over 30 years ago and he had it for along time .
   Is there a website I can find out more about the older tools ?

@ J-sews,
Its everything that you have seen already in my “I'm going to need a bigger tool box” thread, I can do a group shot if you like Mate?

@Zed,
You want me to keep an eye out for one?  >:D

@Dunk,
I can't think of anything at the moment  (nothing in my favorites )
These guys might be able to help if you have problems with it (they seem a friendly bunch)  :tu:

Gareth - you're not alone mate, I've never found any either (though I don't go anywhere near as often as I'd like)
