web.archive.org

I found a link to this on another site.  It's pretty cool.  It's a site that archives websites.

Type in a url and see how far back you can go.  They've got some archives of the Leatherman site from 1996.

If you look "way back" at the multitool.org, what will you find?  Maybe a weblog about the first multitool....a stick sharpened at both ends?  ::)

Naw, that would be a double ended tool since it serves the same purpose.  The first multitool I think was a stick with a point at one end and a rock tied to the other!  :D

Good point.  Maybe one point is flat and one is phillips?

Carving a phillips head into a stick huh?  I think I'd use a Spirit for that- the serrated blade would go against the grain nicely! :D

I wonder if that Idea would actually work if you tried it.  I have seen much stranger field fixes in my time.

I don;t know who said it, but the adage I live my life by is, "if it's stupid but it works, it isn't stupid!"

I'm not sure if that's a mantra or an excuse though!

Well they (Gerber, Buck, etc) thought that Tim Leatherman was stupid when he came to them with his multitool.  Look who's stupid now.

I think its the same guy that wouldn't sign the Beatles. "Groups with guitars are on their way out." I believe is what he said...  ;D

Funny, but weren't the Beatles the original Boy Band?  Hard to believe that Sir Paul McCartney had anything to do with the blight on modern music...

If we were our current ages living through the beginning of the Beatles' years, we would probably have considered them a blight on music. I wonder if years from now some of the current 'boys will be knighted?  ::)
