Chilli's knife actually makes me think of one of the more modern Thiers (France's answer to Sheffield) knives and that the plate on the back could be a bee? French and Spanish knife designs certainly have many similarities but mostly the French style knives are non-locking. I know however that this doesn't ring true with what's etched on the blade.

You'd be correct Gareth. This knife is much more similar with the french Laguiole knives. It does not lock and there is a bee on the back as you mentioned. Maybe what I have is a Laguiovaja knife? Lol. I'm trying to figure out how much to start it at on ebay...Laguiole knives have the same situation, where since the Laguiole name was never patented, anyone can use it and it now is a general term for the type/style of knife, instead of the name of the town that first..and still...makes them. Thanks for the help on this. Do you have a real navaja knife? That clicking locking mechanism sounds cool!
