Quick question guys...
on: June 15, 2010, 11:04:04 PM
Am I right in saying that the SwissTool Spirit X is a PE version of the regular Spirit? And that the S is a regular with a PE instead of the scissors? I was going to buy a Leatherman... but all of a sudden I want a ST :P

I have heard incredible stories about the original SwissTool's durability and quality, etc. and that the workmanship is superb. Does all the same hold true for the Spirit models?

Thanks guys!

The spirits are very popular for good reason - very high quality tools  :tu:

I can't remember which model is which off hand but when you do buy one, try Tim as his prices and service is great - http://felinevet.sosakonline.com/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1

Just email him if you don't see what you want there :)

If anything the Spirit is even better quality that the Swisstool :)

I do still prefer the Swisstool though, but then I prefer large MT's anyway :)

The Spirit X is a great Multi , basically a refined , later rendition of the Swisstool ( also a great tool ) .

would you guys say its more suitable to EDC than an original ST? I was on the fence, about to buy either a (LM) Skeletool or a Wave, but after looking around a bit more I decided on the Spirit. Would you guys say it's comparable? I mean, I ain't no wussy (6' 2" 230 lbs 16 year old) so I can handle a heavy MT, but it's not going to be, like, pulling my pants down or anything, right?

Difficult one this   If your happy with a big  heavy Multitool go for the Swisstool  :tu: I carried one for about 8 years and they trully are a great tool . I'm a little older and a little wiser now and find the Spirit alot more carry friendly and just as capable . You can't go wrong with either really .

Good catch , I doubt you will be dissapointed . Personally , I prefer mid sized Multi's like the Spirit and Wave . The big guys like the Swisstool and Surge just aren't worth the weight and bulk penalty ( at least to me ) .
