4sevens Preon 2 Neutral White Beamshots.

Woot! Woot!

So I managed to drive out into the country and get some decent beamshots. Here's the set-up I used.

L-R; Fenix L2D Q5, Preon 2 Cool White, Preon 2 Neutral White.
2XAA Eneloops 2XAAA Eneloops 2XAAA Eneloops

Here are the lumen ratings from the integrating sphere thread over at CPF, no data is available for the NW Preon 2.

Preon 2 CW:
3 Low
30 Medium
148 High

L2D Q5
8 Low
37 Medium
145 High

After using the NW Preon 2 for the past few days I am sold on it. The Neutral is just some much better at color rendition and isn't as harsh on the eyes. I can't tell if there is any difference in brightness but the Neutral feels more normal and works very well with my eyes. The Cool White Preon 2 I've been EDCing since December looks, by itself, to be a pure white but once compared to the Neutral it appears slightly blue.

Let's start with some shots just to show the tints, all lights are on low. L-R; Fenix L2D Q5, Preon 2 Cool White, Preon 2 Neutral White.

Since the low sort of exaggerates the tint differences here are the lights on high.

Distance shots, lights on high in the same order as above.

All three lights at once, this lit up a huge area. 450 lumens!

BONUS SHOT! Here's the iTP H01 headlamp on high.

Thank you for the pics. I own a Preon 2 and I love it but have been curious about the warm white version.

After using the NW version I think the Warm White would be too yellow/orange for my uses. That and the @28% output drop was a real big turnoff.

But I think either NW or WW would be worlds better than the CW, I'm spoiled now.

That has been my exact experience since trying WW. NW is the way to go. The output difference doesn't seem that great though. Keep in mind that, though you're getting 28% fewer lumens, your eyes won't really perceive it as that much of a loss.
