Camping Logo

Did Victorinox discontinue the "Camping" logo that was optional on the Ranger and Camper? I don't see it listed as an option anymore on their site.

I'd actually like to know that myself. Saw one in a store recently with the little tent logo and "camper" on it.

I do not know about the Camper, but on the Ranger, that option hasn't been offered for several years now (possibly up to a decade or longer, but don't quote me on that :D).

The Camper and Ranger are still available here with the logo only on the cellidor though not on the nylon ones.
Rest is not idleness,
and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer's day,
listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky,
is by no means a waste of time

I quite like the inlaid variant but the hot pressed version irritates me as it wears away leaving the SAK looking messy.
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

I'm sure I'm right in saying that the normal cellidor version should always be the nicer inlay and the hot-stamp would only be found on the nylon scales.  Most sellers will specify if it's the nylon version.

In the first picture the line starts under the tent figure and goes on the Camping

In the second picture there is no line under the Camping. Which one is inlaid, which one is hot stamped? ???

The one with the line connecting the tent and the lettering will be the metal inlay (made from a single piece of metal), the one without the line is very likely hot-stamped I'd say.

I recently ordered a Camper form Amazon and it came without the logo. I complained to Amazon about it on top of some other issues I have had with them and they sent me another one FOR FREE. It also arrived with no logo but hey I guess I can't complain.

I bought a brand new Ranger in Seoul, South Korea 2 years ago (when I was plundering that Vic shop in Namdamun Market of all of the First Mates and such for many of you on this forum).  All he had were Camping logo Rangers.

Another pricey store in the COEX Mall in Seoul sold Rangers (among other Vic SAKs) with Camping logos on them.

A Swiss website I browse alot for SAKs sells them with the Camping logo.....

Me thinks the U.S. ones do not have them, and the rest of the world has them.

I've never seen the camping mark on nylon- I thought that was a cellidor only thing. I've had both the cellidor with and without, not sure there was a difference for my purposes.

I'm not sure how many different variations of the "Camping" logo there are off the top of my head, but I'm pretty sure there are at least 5 different inlaid versions.  Usually the metal inlays are really easy to tell in person since they are metal and look nice, and the others.... well....  Sometimes in a web picture though you may have to look carefully.

I seem to remember that the inlay is still reported in the Vic catalogs, but it could be that a distributor would have to make a large order before you would find them new again.

I was thinking not that long ago that the metal inlay was dead due to cost cutting... but then I saw that wonderful inlay produced for MEC 40th Anniversary as documented in the SOSAK newsletter a couple months back.   That's a beauty.... and then I got a super new World Scout Jamboree knife and not only does it have a large inlay, the inlay has etching on it making it multi-textured and it looks fantastic.  I've been meaning to get some good photos, but just too busy right now.

That pic shows again that if the line starts from the tent logo and goes on under the camping logo it is inlaid version,

if there is no line under the camping it means it is hot stamped :) :salute:
