Gerber Artifact/Shard Users
on: July 23, 2010, 01:01:59 AM
Hey people,

Just wanted to warn people about the new shard/artifact ....

Ok so here is the deal, not so long ago i took a plane to go on vacation but before i went on gerber to look at new stuff because it's always less expensive in the US. I saw the new Shard and it looked just like an artifact but without the blade. Since my old MP3 player needed a star driver to remove the battery cap i tought : if i use my torx screwdriver and remove the hole blade container on the artifact it should be ok to travel with me ? Well NO its not, the safety people where like You cant have this! so there my 20$ went in the guy pocket.

Then i saw the shard in some shop in fort lauderdale and i bought it. SAME thing hapenned! It says airline safe on the website! I was kinda pissed at myself, losing 30$ like that (20$ 4 the artifact and 10$ 4 the shard).

So the lesson out of this is : Dont bring a tool on a plane cuz the ppl are gonna be scared Colorful Enunciationless and you might end up losing it!

You should have asked to see the manager; both the Artifact and Shard are legal to fly with, so long as the Artifact's blade is removed.  Granted, in the UK that would probably be a no-go, but in the US and Canada, they should've both been fine.  TSA is known for their employees randomly making up rules and enforcing rules incorrectly; I would say more about them, but I don't want to flame them /too/ badly and give either myself or the forum a bad name. :/

Some run from breaks of ice, and answer none:
And some condemned for a fault alone." -William Shakespeare, King Lear (1608), Act IV, scene 6, line 169

You can't go far wrong with trains.

I am surprised that they confiscated any of those...mind you, what do you expect when a toe nail clipper is considered a weapon of mass destruction.
A little Leatherman information.

Hey... you could do real damage with those nail clippers.

Really mess up that air stewardess's manicure and ruin her entire week. ::)
Got those frog legs.

I think Alcohol, Tabacco and Firearms should be a convenience store, not a government agency.
