Just got a reply from the Windros Group on that US military knife…

"The KCU was developed for the US military.
Sales are restricted to Law Enforcement, Military and Federal Agencies personnel.
Thank you"

I am thinking of trying to snag one of those blacked out SPF knives.  Could have my brother in law order em up, he's SF.

Ho Hum........ So ideally I'd like the old grey mag and the newer file. So 2 Swisschamps then.
Or just get a dirt cheap SAK with the newer file and put it on the Old Swisschamp

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I've got an all-modern champ taken apart...was thinking about swapping the fish scaler layer for the old style metal file...so I'd have new and old files for a variety of "grits" for different materials...plus it means an extra back tool slot...perhaps a reduced size fine flat screwdriver, I have some guitar knobs with slotted set-scews that are just a bit too small for the backside fine screwdriver..and too big for the corkscrew mini driver.

...and of course nail file instead of small blade...

Received this Ti Yeoman (with awl!) the other day, my first custom, stunning work from our Syph007 (aka SAKModder), my photos really don't do it justice!:

It's much thinner than my Cellidor Yeoman, due to no outer liners and thinner scales:

Syph007 makes this up in brass, uses the standard Vic lens, and can be popped out apparently (with some force, I've not tried) and replaced if necessary - he even sent me a spare lens for free! I love it! The brass tipped tweezers are a nice touch too, I made sure to order a spare. No toothpick, but I don't use one.

The thing has quite a bit of heft compared to the Cellidor model, but in a good way, as the Cellidor model almost feels too light

Syph007 does better photos than me, though:

Popping in and out of a plastic ring can be done without damage, but should be avoided as it will wear the plastic. Popping one in and out of a brass one is a different matter as it doesn't have nearly the flexibility or elasticity of the plastic (as little as it may be for the hard plastic). Look for a tiny set screw tucked away in an inconspicuous location around the rim. I'd bet you'll find one.

Looks beautiful! Nice thin profile.

I've considered a Yeoman, either making one myself or having one made, but with five Woodsman, an Explorer Plus and two Scientist, plus a SwissChamp on the way (that I needed like another awl-drilled hole in my head  ), I'm having a lot of trouble justifying it. I've also got my father's Bausch & Lomb pocket magnifier that's slightly larger. Nevertheless, it calls to me like a siren from the deep!

No it doesn't have one, he used to do this, but found a better way to mount the lens, it's just pressure. Syph did say it will pop out with enough pressure, if needed.

He's also made it lighter than his older version be removing some metal from the handle (as you can see on the photos).

Looks beautiful! Nice thin profile. I've considered a Yeoman, either making one myself or having one made, but with five Woodsman, an Explorer Plus and two Scientist, I'm having a lot of trouble justifying it.

I think if many of us tried to rationalise and justify our SAK addiction we'd be in trouble![/quote]

Chanced upon this one today. Only $15 so I figured why not. It's my first Wenger. Alpine backpacker I believe. While not on par with my Vics, I'm happy to have it. Love the locking serrated blade.

Soldier '60

Nice condition, the scales are a bit scratched but the tools are in great shape. Its red is a bit darker (as compared to the '59 soldier, top in the pictures) but it has no black smudges.
