I just saw a short film about Apollo 16 in Switzerland. That SAK would have been the perfect souvenir :)

I just picked up an almost unused Recruit with nylon scales off E-bay for $9.99 shipped. Arrived today  :ahhh  I also have a Camper and Climber on the way for $18 shipped. Didn't need any of them but I couldn't resist to prices!

The Apollo missions were truly special ones considering three guys in little more than a couple of glorified aluminum cans bolted back to back go to the moon and back. If you ever have an opportunity to see a Mercury, Gemini or Apollo spacecraft, do so. I've seen Gus Grissom's Gemini craft. They are shockingly tiny. Not a space for the claustrophobic.

Chris Hadfield used a Master Craftsman to break into the Russian Mir space station after the departing Russian crew had over-zealously sealed its hatch shut. "Further proof you should always carry a multitool, especially when leaving the planet."

Oh yes I would love to visit a museum with stuff from the Apollo or Gemini era.
The movie was about Charlie Duke (famous for the family portrait he left in the moon). Totally recommended: http://lunar-tribute.com.

This is the rarely seen NASA documentary about Apollo 13 on Vimeo. IIRC it was released by NASA in 1972. I saw first at Arizona State University in 1973 or 1974 where I was a Physics major, eventually getting my BS degree there a couple years later. It's about a half-hour long.

Amici,
Here is my latest, a 2018 SwissChamp with nylon stayglow scales, accompanied by all brass along with a Spyderco ladybug in H1 steel..  By far, this setup is my favorite for office EDC, plus I just love nylon scales.

Cheers,
Serge

The latest additions to my humble collection, and at last something mildly interesting, and not your garden variety Vic's: a Switzerland's 700-year anniversary Wenger Esquire and a Wenger Commander from the Snife line, the "Crazy". Found them both on a local auction site pretty cheap (paid around $16 for the two together, including shipping).

The Snife Commander is a bit scuffed up, but after cleaning it functions perfectly. It will be a user for the Mrs., so the scratch marks are almost an advantage, she said she won't be afraid to use it.

Gotta get my hands on some of those stayglow someday... All I have is a couple of RescueTools which I don't think really count.

Yeah, so far I only had nice, but very pedestrian SAK models, my most special piece was an old Grand Prix - even that without the automobile scales -, so it's nice to have something interesting and different, dare I say rare. I got lucky.

Technically not a SAK, but very directly related. Victorinox acquired the rights to Bear MCG for a period of time to develop the SwissTool. As I understand it. Bear BCG made the SwissTool for them until Victorinox set up their own production. The SiwssTool has evolved significantly since the. Bear BCG emerged from it as Bear and Son. They still make multi-tools although I cannot say they're as nice as the Victorionx. Thus, it's not a Victorinox, but is very directly related to the history of the SwissTool.

This is something Victorinox doesn't have, Bear and Son's Electrician Multi-tool with wire stripper instead of pliers jaws, which is why I bought them for my electrical and electronics toolbox:
