I'm not sure why I've never had an Esquire before. I guess I've awlways carried a Vic Classic or Vic Ambassador. But this is a great size knife @ 65mm. Where the heck have I been?

I pulled the trigger on a black Pioneer with red shield this week, and here it is, it just arrived! A super elegant SAK, at least for me. My one small gripe is that it has the vendor's logo laser etched on the blade, and they did not make this clear on the website in advance. Well, at least they kept it small and relatively discreet.

(Oh, and I just hate the keyring hole on these aloxes with a passion, especially that they're pretty hard to remove, file down without risking the integrity of the anodization. Why can't Vic place them so they won't poke your palm while holding the knife? )

Looks great! The logo is not so big as to be a nuisance, I think.

 :tu: :tu:

Does the keyring hole really upsets people this much?! I tend to prefer knives with it and it never bothered me or dug into my palm as I use the knives...

I don't mind them on other SAK's, knives in general, but this particular one on the 93 mm Vics is super annoying for me. It's thin, sharp and stands in a very silly angle, not away from, but perpendicular to the palm. I cut-filed it off from my other Pioneer.

Mags, get well soon, I hope it's nothing serious! :D Also, I wish they heard your coughing in Ibach as well...

Or do you know someone who could change them for me?

Thanks Exeter - Some cough syrup would help.

I'm in the prcess of replacing the solid rivet on my OC Red Farmer with a hollow one. I'll post pics when I get round to finishing it. It's been an intention of mine for a while because I feel the same as you about the lanyard ring.  :tu:

Wow! Ok, you might be right. None of mine has the keyring hole in that position.

Major hawl this week. Here's awl of them:

Wenger Professional 1.71.21 with '82 tang-stamp

Wenger 91mm Vintage "Viking-like"  (1940-1952, I feel like this cap lifter could help pinpoint the year a bit better but couldn't find any info on it)

Wenger Esquire "Elle & Lui" (Her & Him)

Wenger Alinghi 176 - Got that one in its pouch for the outrageous price of : Free. (I have the extreme privilege of occasionally working with members of Alinghi, one of them was kind enough to offer me this knife  :ahhh )

Victorinox "Student-like" knife with semi-translucent plastic handles (not sure what) and "Victoria" tang-stamp

Victorinox Cadet II in teal smooth alox scales. Lovely clip-point small blade.

Victorinox Electrician in silver OC scales (modern)
Victorinox Electrician in silver OC scales (Elinox tang-stamp and wire-stripper cap-lifter)
Victorinox Pioneer (modern)
Victorinox Technician in red OC scales (Elinox tang-stamp and wire-stripper cap-lifter)
Victorinox Pioneer Pruner

Victorinox Pioneer Apprentice in silver OC scales

Victorinox Champion a (circa 1973 I think... some contradictory parts in there) - It comes back from the spa, it didn't have any scales left, its spacers were bent and the keyring hole was crushed. Paid only CHF 8.- at the market and another 5 to the spa for the repairs.

Elsener Soldier 1970 (restored at the spa... mirror-polished blade)

Wenger Soldier/Standard Issue 1973

Victorinox Tourist with vintage Swissair logo (pre-1973)

3 Victorinox Tomo - Blue, Red and Yellow

Wenger Sierra.  I would have preferred a file instead of the fish tickler.  Kinda bummed there was no scale picture of the hiker.  Ah well, its in great condition.
