Lots of scales have pin holes and no pin.  My huntsman for example came that way, bought new.

My latest SAK came in the mail today in the form of the Swiss Army SwissTool Spirit Plus w/ratchet (model 53807).  I haven't opened it yet other than taking it out of the box it came in.  Once I open it, I'll post pics in the appropriate thread.

A Black Climber w/Plus Scales...

As you can see mine came with the pin. However, I hang my head in shame because I forgot to take the tweezers out for the photograph. It wasn't until I uploaded the pics to my computer that I noticed them fully seated in the top scale. I really like the tools on this knife, but I sure wish it came with the long file on the back. Does the file add a 4th layer to this knife?

Hello members of the Swiss Forum section!
Few pictures of three knives that I bought recently.
Wenger Director and Skiier.
The Director is quite impressive, in my opinion

And last I found a Swissroller with a funny box, with a cap included  :D

Nope, it's in the same layer as the scissors, instead of the hook.

Excellent! I appreciate the response. I would definitely prefer that long nail file instead of the hook. The absence of a nail file is the only thing that prevents the Climber from being the absolute perfect EDC SAK for me. Thankfully, I always have a Classic on my key fob anyway.

No problem. Keep in mind that the long nail file Climber is hard to find (new). On the other hand, it took me quite a while to sell my batch of seven pieces so it looks like they are not as popular as I thought.

If you are interested I would be willing to sell you the last one I have :)

Is PayPal Acceptable? You know what. I'm going to have to pass on another knife this month. As much as I would like to have it, sadly I cannot afford it right now. I just got this one today--the black Climber--and I have a Pioneer in the mail as well as another Spyderco Military. In addition to another Spydie Para 2 on pre-order. My knee-jerk reaction to your offer was yes. But I need to slow down here. Thanks for the offer, though. I really appreciate it!

Rambler, Rally, Executive and Ambassador

I also took some comparison pictures of the sizes of the main blades and the body for the 58, 74, 84 and 91mm Victorinox knives and the thickness beteween the single layer 74 and 58mm, in case anybody was interested.

My Wenger EvoGrip 81 came today.  The scales seem a little on the fragile side... they don't feel as robust as the cellidor scales on my Rambler, unfortunately.

I got it as a dedicated tool for my EDC first aid kit.  I wanted the non-spring serrated scissors for use on band-aids and the like, as well as a small blade that could serve as an impromptu scalpel if need be.  I put a lobster clip on it and it's on the paracord loop inside the MaxPed EDC Micro I use for my EDC FAK.

I like that it's in between the 58 and 74 mm Vics.  My Rambler was too small for what I wanted, and my Executive was too big.  The EG 81 is "Goldilocks"... just right.  :)

They will regret passing up these babies.  I've not really been watching, but have not seen any new ones released for a while now.

I'm going by memory but the factory picture seems exactly the same as the one published in the book Swiss Army Knife a Collector's Companion by Jackson.
I remember the picture as the cows in front of the factory seem .... well, photoshopped?  :D

I've just received a Wenger Minigrip via a different forum (for free!).

First impressions;

Solid and compact - as it's second hand, the scales need a bit of tidying up and the driver caddy and pouch are missing.

Having said that, I have plenty of driver bits and a pouch to ut them all in.

This is my first Wenger and I'm impressed with the ruled wood saw and metal file. I don't have a SAK with the metal file so that's a welcome addition.

The cap lifter/screwdriver locking system is genius- wish Vic would appropriate it now they own Wenger.

On the downside, the knife blade seems thinner than the Vic - is this usual?

All in all, it's a great little tool and I'm excited to have it.

Got a couple more Ramblers and a Rover.

Strangely the Rover's flat screwdriver works better on some Philips screws than the dedicated Rambler Philips screwdriver.

Cool isnt it? The flat sd work good on #2 and the dedicated one fit well for #0,#00. Pretty much cover common SD.

Received my vintage Vic Electrician from the eBay seller today. (note the stark cross, and complete lack of a shield) That cross was originally buffed to a high gloss, but the previous owner seems to have "key-blasted" it.

One odd thing about this, and I'm not sure if the new ones have this, is that the curved inside edge is sharpened to a chisel edge. The way I open Vic bottle openers, I nearly sliced my thumb open on it. It seem to be a factory grind job too.
