My latest is what I believe to be a mid 80's Camper, like my first one with no hook.
Have a soft spot for these.

Congrats.  Since you have a soft spot for these, how many do you think you have?  Any particularly unique ones?

Finally got a Farmer X. Unlike the other single SAKs I have, I'll (try to) use this for some real work around the garden/outdoors.

You say this to the person with the wiggle-pattern avatar?!  I'm looking for hidden meaning in the dots on the board myself.  So far, I think they mention Tang, the moon landing, and who shot JR, but I may be wrong about the Tang part.  That might say something about drinking the Kool-Aid.

Yours should have a chisel edge grind on it.  That is better for making clean cuts on the plants, which prolongs their health, I believe, by not crushing the ends at all.

Ah. I'm learning something here.... Does that refer to the offset nature of the blade angle--ie, it's straight on one side, and angled on the other?

I did notice the difference, and found that they sharpen better if I set them off a bit sideways in my sharpener.....

Somehow, on the microscopic level, though, I still have a hard time understanding how it can make a difference to the flower stems. It's still a wedge. We usually used scissors, anyway, for a good crisp cut.

Also, since this evidently is dependent on the shape of the blade, and it's off center, I suppose this is strictly a right-handed knife? If a lefty used it, they'd smurf everything up on the flower stem?

I think this is a pre-86 Champion C - just arrived in the post today. Half decent price, in good condition & I fancied something with a few years on it. Needs some TLC, but don't we all?

Something simple but nice nevertheless. Premier for kids with rounded blade tip. Funny knife with both stamps from Victorinox and Wenger on one blade.

I guess you could think of it this way:  it's a wedge on side, which pushes/crushes as it goes, but it's flat on the other, which doesn't crush, it just slices.  With a traditional blade, the way you would normally make a cut, you are using a wedge on both sides, pushing things aside/crushing.  I'm guessing all of this might be more important to a plant you are taking cuttings from than it is to, say, an already cut flower you are just shortening or freshening the stem on.

You will read the same thing about pruning shears, too.  The anvil type are not good for pruning living plants, I think it is, where you should use bypass cutters instead.  The anvil make a crushing cut, while bypass make a slicing cut.

Bit the bullet on an XAVT, what with them being discontinued and all, and a standard Swiss Champ.
