Just got a Super Tinker after losing my beloved climber. Thought I would miss the corkscrew and eyeglass screwdriver, but I’m finding the Phillips to very useful in reaching recessed screws! Can see why this is the most popular model in the USA

Introducing (drum roll, please…) the ExploreRanger!

Put this beauty together today and I’m very pleased with the result. I had got a good deal on a newer Explorer a couple of weeks ago but, while it was in really good condition otherwise, the blades needed work. I had a couple of spares but then started thinking about making it a woodsman if I was going to take it apart anyway. Now, in the same spares box as the wood saw was a metal saw, so I thought - why not? I also had all the necessary back tools. It came together really nicely and I think the green plus scales really make it special.

Funny enough, before I started, I checked the forum to see f anyone had done anything similar with this toolset and it turns out that Helvetica Bold had arrived at exactly the same point when he decided to replace the pliers in his Handyman with the Philips/Mag layer. He christened his the Handy Explorer. Different journey - same destination. I’m chuffed.

I have a couple of shiny new Delémonts.  :climber:  Well, I actually purchased them "used", but they are both factory sharp and still have the factory oil applied.

It's sad to think that it took me this long to realize that Victorinox have taken the 85mm Wenger platform that I despised and made them into first-rate SAKs.

That's one sweet package.

I'm tempted to change the corkscrew on my Ranger to a T-Philips as it seems better suited to it.
