Cool. I had been thinking about bidding on that exact lot. Glad to see those SAKs have found a good home.
You should seriously visit vicfan.com. All the hoopy froods are doing it.

Thanks!

I’ll probably sell or trade most of them, but there are a couple of them that i’m going to add to the permanent collection  :salute:

Master Craftsman in green plus scales. I put the Phillips on an old Ranger I acquired recently.

I’ve been on a bit of a green theme lately…

I found this one at an antique store today. I think it's an original Pioneer Alox from what I read on SAKWiki and in Fronta's post "Victorinox Alox Pioneer - knowledge book" from 2010 in this forum. It's got the diagonal brushing on the cap lifter and can opener that he dates in his photos to the 1960s-1970s. It looks like it has brass liners. If any of you experts out there can help me confirm the dating, I'd really appreciate it.

I paid $3 for it.  :D

Would it be any better if I added that I had to rummage through dozens of SAK knock-offs in a couple of display cases before I found the Pioneer? I had to do some work for my $3.  ;)

I have had a lot of luck recently. The week before, I scored a mid '80s Explorer for $8 at an estate sale. Though that one needed a lot of work to get usable, see the thread "Very stiff blades on old Explorer - looking for suggestions" https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,87409.new.html.

I do enjoy looking through old books also.  :)

Economy/Ecoline Bantam

Got this one Friday afternoon at my favorite local junk shop. Another $3 find. My first 84mm.

It was missing the split ring so I added one.

No Elinox or Economy markings. From what I could find on the Net, could be anywhere from 1980 to 2005. Any thoughts on how I can nail that down?

Thanks!

Victorinox Delemont Evolution S557

Ordered it off eBay last week and it arrived today.

I've been intrigued by the slip-joint pliers and wrench since I read about them so am excited to be able to get one to try out.

The 85mm size is interesting as well.

Nice ST  :tu:

...and those new folding steak knives are going to be popular for many uses!

I was told that the design is unique to Victorinox. The liner lock frame is molded into the handle during production, making it service-free - a bit like a Swatch.

I started very pro Wenger, but have converted to Vic. But I still carry my S557 with pliers, because those pliers have two sizes of grasp while  my Vic pliers have only one.

So: I love the pliers on your Wenger find.

Ah, sterling silver...intrinsic value you can carry in your pocket, as hyper inflation is applied like a blunt ax by the compound interest cartel.

How many precious metals have been used OEM for SAK scales I wonder?

Platinum, silver and gold would be a nice 3 knife collection.

SwissChamp #2

Used the MiniChamp to open the package containing my newest SAK - a second SwissChamp I found on eBay. I was looking for another one with the original gray-frame magnifier, and with hook and pliers with crimper. Seems that combo is harder to find. Lots of ones with newer magnifier, without hook, or without crimper out there.

Now I have a black one and a red one.
