  • More than one SAK
  • SAKs you don’t need, not on a list, and impulse buys
  • Duplicates/backups
  • Purchases you need to hide from your wife/significant other

I’m somewhere down the line at: “I forgot I even had one (some number) of those!”

  • More than one SAK   - Check. Most definitely.
  • SAKs you don’t need, not on a list, and impulse buys   - Check. Dear God, check.
  • Duplicates/backups   - Check. Oh, yes.   :(
  • Purchases you need to hide from your wife/significant other   - Not at this one yet! Probably because I get most of my SAKs used and cheap.   :D
SAKs:
58mm: Bijou (3), Classic SD (7), Mini Champ Plus (mod), Alox Classic SD, Rambler (3), Companion
65mm: Wenger Esquire
74mm: Executive
85mm: Evolution S557, Traveler,
91mm: Champion "c", Swiss Champ (4), Explorer (3), Deluxe Tinker, Huntsman, Serrated Spartan/Weekender, Explorer Plus, Deluxe Explorer Plus (mod), Outdoorsman Plus, Champion "a", Champion Plus, Timekeeper Alarm, Golfer
93mm: Pioneer Alox

Oh, I buy a lot of used and cheap ones…I’ve found that I’m better off getting multiple at a time. Generally  saves on shipping…but more importantly, is only one package that comes in the mail!  :D

So true, Kamakiri!
:D we should expand the list!

And for example…a box came in from Victorinox today. It’s reasonable to think there’s only one knife in there…right? No need to say anything about ‘maximizing’ the benefit from a 10% off coupon they sent me, right?  :dunno:

Even the title of this thread…operates under the assumption that normal people order one knife at a time. I usually can’t tell you what my singular latest SAK is.

Normal people order one knife at a time.
If that's true, I ain't normal at all! When buying brand-new, unless the knife is over $100 or I need related items (sharpening gear, knife rolls, etc.), I'm gonna order at least two knives. Victorinox makes that easy with low prices and free shipping on orders of at least $50.

By the way, according to that scale, I'm a 3-3.5.

So you only hide your purchases sometimes?  :)

When I worked in an office, I could just send packages there.  :D

So much fun to get a new SAK.  I wonder if you'll like the one layer thinner Climber, or if you'll prefer the Explorer.  :dunno:

I went to one of the local pawn shops and found this amongst the detritus. It glowed like the heavens, and I couldn't ask the guy to come over and give me some help fast enough. When he eventually came over and showed me the knife, I could not believe my eyes. This had a 9 dollar price tag glued on it. On average, anything celidor starts at 30 dollars and goes up from there. I guess they didn't have a clue as to what they had. I found it a loving home. No box, but looks like it was never used. I had to clean the blade a little due to dried oil.

I carried a Super Tinker before I got hooked on the Explorer, so I'm very familiar with three-layer SAKs. I actually find three layers to be the most comfortable SAK size in hand.

I carried a Camper, (also 3-layers) for 5 years.  I agree it's a comfortable size.

Not technically my latest SAK...

I got a used Rambler about a week ago, but finally had time to clean and mod it today. I added a pin slot.

I picked up this Wenger Esquire a few weeks ago at a junk shop for $3 US.

Finally got around to cleaning it tonight. The scales have some scuffs on them, but it still has the toothpick and tweezers!

Got gifted a Tinker from our local switchboard building company. Stoked as it replaces the one I gifted to my middle son a year or so ago.

I had a good day at the local estate sales and junk shops a couple of weeks ago.

I got the old survivor Companion at an estate sale for $2 US. Looks like the previous owner enjoyed it as the blade has been resharpened a lot. Also, looks like he snapped off the tip of the nail file and turned it into a slotted screwdriver. The scales don't look as good as they do in the photo. There's a fair amount of wear on the edges.

The black Classic SD I got at a local junk shop. It's a promo for Oklahoma Natural Gas. $10 for it, a Leatherman Crunch with a Heritage leather sheath, and a Leatherman Leap. None of them look like they'd been used.
