Wow, that’s proper nice and unused is an amazing find. Like all the Marlboro toolsets and have modded several but would love to find an original with the scales. Great find.

Their out there ready to be had. I paid 40 on ebay for the troubleshooter. The seller also had a brand new outdoorsman $50 and marlboro spartan. I've been seeing them a lot lately. If I had Extra $ I would of picked up the outdoorsman as well. Next time I guess. :gimme:

I really lead a charmed life. I found a Small Climber!
 :climber:
It was actually listed as such and the seller even specifically mentioned that it was 84 mm. There were already a bunch of bids when I noticed it, so I was expecting it to get out of reach. With shipping it was under fifteen euros!

I don't normally use a lanyard, but if I'm carrying a knife I can't replace, now is probably the time to start.

I’m jealous!

I wish there were more models that still had 84mm versions in regular production…

DON'T WE ALL.... Victorinox needs to give the people what we want. Our demands are simple:
•84mm with scissors and some new models
• the ability to design your own knife configuration
• more colors available on all knives
• Bring back the 74mm lineup

Did I miss anything?

I still can't believe my luck!

I also just picked up a Wenger Picnic out of curiosity. It's the first Wenger I've used and the spring on the main blade doesn't seem as heavy as the 84 mm Vics I'm used to. The blade also has more of a belly than I had noticed in photos.

Agree some really nice finds recently and to keep it on a high I managed to pick up a nice Wenger Pocket Tool Chest. First one I have seen for sale here in the UK so snapped it up on when it came up in Bladebridge. eBay won’t let us trade knives here but there are still some independents and Etsy that are a little goldmine for vintage finds occasionally.

This has a great toolset.

The PTC is such a neat little tool.  8)

I liked my new Wenger Highlander so much that I decided to try an 85mm model with scissors.

I would have preferred to get a Classic 16 with the toothpick and tweezers, but the Travelers are so much cheaper.

The blade has some wobble, which I'm not happy about, but otherwise it just needs a good cleaning and oiling.

Does anyone know if the Victorinox eyeglass screwdriver can fit in the Wenger corkscrews?

Nice, I don’t have many original Wengers (soldier, ptc) but I do like the non-evo, pre Vic ones better. Mini screwdriver fits in my evo 18 (but probably because it is now a common Vic part used across the ranges) but not sure about pre-Vic models - probably not - be interested to know too.

I genuinely think (certainly in this country) that you could consider making 84mm the main range and reducing the 91 to the favourites like Swiss Champ/Compact/Huntsman. 74mm Executive is one of my favourite knives so would vote for that to remain but Delmont range can make way for 84mm Vics any day in my book. ;0)

You're welcome.

Perhaps you look for the new screwdriver set. They appeared with the colorful toothpicks & tweezers. There are four colours with different tips - the regular flat one, a Philips, a Torx4 and a simcard push pin.

Variety is always welcome.  :like:

The new screwdrivers are cool, but I don't think I'd ever use any of them.

I'm more intrigued by the little fire starter set. It's equally useless for me, but it appeals to my inner prepper.

That's a point.  :salute:

I'm regularly using my "classic" screwdriver for my glasses; seldom for photo gear.

The fire ants use gitd material, which adds a new level of customization...  :like:

The Classic SD screwdriver on the nail file is too big for the screws on my glasses. Plus, my glasses have Phillips screws - fortunately the Phililps on the Rambler fits them perfectly!

I was writing about the mini screwdriver that stores in the SAK corkscrew... "Classic" was used to describe the tried-and-tested flat SD model. I should have used a better description though ...

My latest is a cheap Wenger Swiss Sportsman from eBay, but it'll need a good cleaning before it's ready for any close ups.

It has the smaller can opener, which is nice. It also needs a replacement toothpick, which is not so nice.

This week came a Cavalier in 75mm size. That's the cellidor version of the Prince with stainless steel scales. It was offered on the bay as "Classic", but it was plain to see being a 75 mm knife.

Firstly, no Classic has a small and large blade together. The emergency blade is a bit shorter than the penknife blade, and the form differs. Then the shape of the sleeve gave it away: no other sleeve has the squared-off corners like the 75s.

I wasn't able to get photos like in SAKWiki with all tools folded out. The file and the small blade block each other. When one is out, you  can't use the other one.

So I'm looking now for a Cavalier with keyring. And next week the Prince is coming...   :mail:
