Huntsman Lite 8)

(Image removed from quote.)

Hey Echo any chance of more views on your Huntsman Lite?  The light is one of my fave things about my Midnite Manager, has come in so useful in the truck. Maybe I can mod my Huntsman too.

Cheers
Robbo

Hi Robbo

Much to my surprise it’s become one of my all time favourites. I’d put off buying it thinking the light wouldn’t be much good and I’d not get on with the extra thickness over a normal Huntsman or FX, my two usual faves. Turns out the size isn’t an issue at all and inline philips, need I say more!

Amazon have them for about 40% off what you normally pay here in Australia so decided to give it a go. In fact I’m so pleased with it I’ve ordered a spare

As Vic have an irritating habit of retiring SAKs that are a little unusual I’ve taken to getting spares of ones I really like (lumberjack and the Delemont line I’m talking about you)

I don’t have a midnite manager to compare the light with but I do have a fairly recent model Swiss Card Lite and it’s probably 5 times brighter. I’ve taken a few photos below but it doesn’t show it properly as the phone camera compensates for the low light

It’s a similar brightness to my Nitecore Tiki on the low setting so probably about 15-20 lumens, so nothing fancy but remarkably useable

I’m no modder so no idea how you’d go about it but impressed you’re thinking of giving it a go, will look forward to seeing it if you do

As I say above pics don’t do it any justice, the card doesn’t look this good in reality and the huntsman a lot better

1 Swiss card. 2 Huntsman

I stopped by L.L. Bean today, to pick up fuel for my camp stove. I also left with a matching Tinker and coffee mug.

I believe it was confirmed to be 22 lumens, by someone on BLF or CPF. Might even have been me...

The Huntsman Lite really is a fabulous model for camping and outdoorsy activities - The ILP is always a magical addition to any SAK, but the LED torch is powerful enough for so many situations: Tent light, map reading, middle-of-the-night toilet breaks... My only criticism is that the clear housing allows light to shine back in your face, whereas the opaque grey version was way better.

Some of you wouldn't look twice at my latest SAK, but I love it.  It is an old Camper.  I didn't use to like the Camping graphic, but I have come around.  It has the old fluted corkscrew and the tools are minty.  Blades were dull.  I took a few passes across a medium arkansas and finished off with a razor hone.  Shaving sharp now.  If you have never used a razor hone, it feels as slick as a piece of marble.  It will only work on something that is sharp to begin with.  Best wishes Gary :climber:
