What about using a little bit of diluted alcohol perhaps?  Or maybe some very light wet sanding with 1000 grit sand paper?

AzteCypher - looks to be in excellent condition.  Will we be seeing more of this for the April Challenge?   As you replied to my Sportsman post, it confirms I have found a new hobby.

Soon, I will be receiving a Spartan so I can play on Sportsman days.
I missed out on a light blue translucent Spartan from the bay, and I keep looking here to see if it appears and who bought it.  They played the auction well with a last second bid.

So, I won a red one.  It looks like it will match my SAKs.

Congrats on the new gear!

Ebay is definitely tricky.  Just when you think you've got it, they snatch it away from you.  I just tell myself it wasn't my turn yet.

I was already signed up for the April Firestarting Challenge so I'll have to sit the Sportman one out but I'll be watching it.

Just arrived in the mail.  The local PO beat the tracking system which showed Monday.  A nice surprise.  Tools looks good, seller will get positive feedback.  The SAK will be getting a scale polish to see if they can be improved a bit.

After photo:
Here is a picture of the back scale after a quick  polish.  I don’t have a before photo, but, is was in similar condition to the front scale.  There is still a nick (just above and left of the nail nick) that I can barely catch a fingernail and I will not remove that much material to remove that nick.  It is good enough to go in my pocket and in a year it will probably be further worn.

I started  with the back scale, and when I looked over the front scale with my magnifier, the was a crack/break that had been glue repaired.  If you look closely at my post above you can see the crack on the insignia end.  I went to my box of parts,  grabbed a front scale left over from one of my plus upgrades, and re-scaled the front side.

I am still learning how to polish and I am not good enough with a strop to remove a glue repair with green polish.

Yes, I see the break.  Good enough to carry with the break, but since you had a spare scale already.....  Looks like you have something for show and tell next Spartan Saturday.  Best wishes.  G

The poor indoor lighting does not bring out the true beautiful red that these alox scales are.

She was aware of this one as it was part of a small lot that I bid on.  I honestly didn't think I'd win it but either people weren't paying attention to the auction, or they didn't realize that this was in the lot with the rest of the not so good knives.  It also doesn't help that I made her that Minichamp with the Persian Indigo scales.  :D

I'm thinking of picking this Civivi up for her as a "peace offering".   Just in case.

Hi all, I'm new here.

My latest SAK is a Victorinox Cybertool L (41). It was suprisingly hard to find anywhere near my location. Mine was sent from the Netherlands. I wanted it because it's almost the same as the Swiss Champ, but there's a bit driver. I've been carrying Swiss Champs for years...

Tervetuloa! Yes, our retailers have indeed a very poor selection of SAKs. The Internet is where you get them.

Another Compact to put OD green micarta scales on… and it also has a magnetized ring. Super annoying. I’ll change it easily, but why would they be this way? Anyone?  All my Compacts had them.
