Had a question from another member about enlarged Anglers with pliers and scissors. There are two of them that I know of: Waterman, 9 blades with corkscrew (no known number)(top); and Master Fisherman, 10 blades with phillips and hook (#1.4753.72)(bottom).

Excellent! Thank you very much for posting, Karl. The Waterman looks to be late 1980s, and the Master Fisherman early 1990s? Can't tell if the scissors have a screw or rivet (looks to be a screw) or if the Phillips is slotted or not.

There was also a question about an unknown model. Not sure if this is it. Hoffritz Limited Edition, with 10 blades, including pliers and magnifying glass. Numbered ****/2000.

Very similar, but not quite. The one I got recently from Europe is basically a SwissChamp minus saw & fish scaler. Never seen one before, so might be a mod (Haven't taken the scales off). I'm calling it a "Modeler Deluxe" for lack of a better name. This Hoffritz, BTW, is absolutely one of my favorite knives.  :tu:

Interesting, is the "Waterman" name official?

I recall reading somewhere (probably from one of Karl's posts) that "Waterman" was the name printed on the box. I have the slightly newer version of this same knife (mid 90s, hook, solid corkscrew, etc) NIB. The name on the box mine came in is, unimaginatively, "Angler with Pliers". I like "Waterman" better.

Both scissors have screws; the phillips is unslotted. Waterman was the name on the box which is buried away. Picked up both of them, and a lot of other interesting stuff, from a long-time SAK dealer who let me rummage around in his back room after I got to know him. Long out of business unfortunately.

I have a downloaded image of the 10-blade version (#1.3753.72). No name given however.

Karl

The latest Pioneer USA Special Run.  The previous one had really nice colored scales, but this one has scales that are more appropriate for a USA commemorative.

That's just a must have now for my collection.   :gimme:

Safari hunter, pathfinder and a couple of  troopers. These are really big but still appear to be uk legal, just.

I really like them, although the PE rescue blade is a strange beast.
My trouble is i never show initiative, but that's only because no one has told me to.

Yes, I remember there being a handful of different designs.  Trying to find the name of the series again.  They were a European release, not that long ago, maybe a couple years at most?

When I found out harvesters were now discontinued (R.I.P to a great SAK btw) I bought up the last of Tim's stock of them.  Most for Swiss whittler mods, one to keep for later and one as a whittler user in the backyard.  A whittler is the one occasion I prefer no keyring.

PM me or email sakmodder [at] gmail . com if you are looking for custom SAK work.

Got myself my first Swisschamp today, courtesy of nelly1974:

Damn, this sucker is big!  Never realized just how large these are!  This is an older one.  It has plus scales but no pin, no hook, a grooved corkscrew, and the scissors pivot is a screw.  The main blade includes "rostfrei" on one side, with the crossbow and cross over officier suisse on the other.  Any idea as to roughly how old it is?

Yes they are.  I don't currently have another Vic with pliers to compare them to, but have in the past.  They definitely are thinner.  The inside of the very ends of the jaws are smooth as well.  As you can see, it also has the older mag glass.

Another new to me SAK, this one a Tattoosteve mod.  Orange G10 and a slightly unusual but useful tool set.  Used it all day and I like it.  Thanks Ash!  :tu:

Send that back to Steve's garage for its first oil change, and get them to install the mini-screwdriver holder... and maybe some racing stripes.

Looks like the original model SwissChamp, from 1986-1987. If the tang stamp has a small "V" in Victorinox, call it a 1986. Large "V", call it a 1987.

Call it '86 then.  Thanks.  :salute:

Actually, the corkscrew would make it just about perfect, simply to hold the eyeglass driver.  As for the racing stripes, black would look pretty nice.  :)
