Not exactly a SAK, but I finally decided to get one of these. I'd been looking for a sharpener I could carry around and this one had a curved area that's suitable for curved blades, which I really liked. I'd tried sharpeners like the top part (the ceramic discs) but never really liked them. I researched a bit and found a bunch of people who swore by this thing so I decided that it was probably suitable for my needs and is definitely portable. My only issue with it so far is that the top lid is made of a material (which feels different from the bottom cover) that, to me, feels like a chalkboard and it just gives me the shivers every time my fingers touch it... Hopefully, after enough time in my pocket with abrasive items it will get 'sanded' down to the point where it doesn't feel like it currently does. Anyone else have any experiences — good or bad — with this thing?

I have one of those for quite some time now. Both covers are the same on mine. As per the sharpening, it works perfectly. The longer stone is great for sharpening and the small ceramic part for removing any burr on the edge of the blade. Very affordable and more than worth what you pay for it.

Good to know. It seems that the material is the same on both covers but the top half feels much rougher and abrasive and the bottom cover feels less so. I've been trying to determine what the grit level of the blue part is...

Amazon had the pioneer on sale for $22 dollars last week, and I couldn’t resist getting one. Can’t beat getting the best pocket knife ever made for what it cost over ten years ago.

Received it two days ago, the first time I’ve opened a new, fresh pioneer in seven years.  Today I performed the obligatory key ring nubectomy.

Now I’m debating on whether I go ahead and retire Berry and make Silver my new EDC. I carried ol’Blackie for six years, from September 2012 to December 2018. Then I switched to Berry (a Christmas gift from my wife and kids) in December 2018 and have carried it ever since, a hair more than seven years now.

I have four kids and have thought it would be nice to carry four different pioneers, each one for several years, so that one day I can pass them down to them as a memento. So, I’m halfway there, and Silver would be #3. We’ll see. It would be hard to retire Berry, it’s been my favorite knife ever for many years, and that it was a gift adds sentimental value.

Anyway, here’s a couple pics

That's a great idea gustophersmob. And worn alox looks so good. Now you have a few years to think about what colour to get for the fourth one.
Or just buy my orange one :D https://vicfan.com/2026/01/victorinox-pioneer-orange/

This is a very very cool idea! I'm sure your kids will very much appreciate it. I remember when I got my first SAK (from my uncle, who convinced my dad that five years old was old enough for a SAK, but he also taught me how to operate it safely and everything). Trust me, the things my dad gave me over the years are my most cherished items (some of which I hope to pass on to my own kids). Even if the item isn't their favourite, it's the thought and the gesture that they will always remember...

This TimeKeeper just arrived. It's not mint, but it's still very nice. It's my third TimeKeeper, I'm still looking for a black one with these Arabic numerals.
It's also my first one that came with the original grey box which is pretty neat.

I found a 74mm EXECUTIVE!   :woohoo:

The implements were in great shape, except the small blade, appeared be the most used, and very dull.

The scales are scratched up showing a good deal of pocket time.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

The small blade is now sharp.

Also located new replacements scales.  Now to decide; Red, Blue or BLACK?

Hey, congrats on the Executive! It's a neat little model. I actually didn't realise they were discontinued. I think blue looks nicest on this guy. What about you?

I was thinking that I will acquire a set in BLACK as that was the official other color it was made with and a set of BLUE because they do look very nice.

That way I have motivation to look for a second EXCUTIVE! :climber:

Our friend Dan (FarmerX man) has two Executives for sale in the Multis for Sale section.  One black and one red.  Might still be available.  All these 74mm are getting hard to find.  Best wishes.  Gary

Thank you GARY!

I keep forgetting to check the listing here.

The RED executive pictured was found at a flea market, so dirt and grimy found not use a nail Nick on 3 of the implements.   Just saved me from buying new scales and yet help a friend.

Three finds this week arrived today, two from the same seller.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

RUBY Translucent ROVER with flat tip Combo tool (58mm) and a WENGER Serrated HIGHLANDER.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

A SPARTAN with Yellow scales.  Claimed original, but without keyring, I suspect an adverting piece and scales were swapped. Scale tools to not fit properly requires me to inspect more so!🫣

All 3 are different enough to interest me and enhance my little collection.
