Marius,

A nice looking trio, particularly the beli Huntsman. :tu:
+1 Santa is bringing me one of those and he told me to let you have the red one... Well he said it was someone on the 'nice' list.... He could have make a mistake.

This may be too late but maybe yours will be better. If is not too late maybe you may want to cancel this  :(

I ultimately decided to return mine, both of them.

First, as expected, ordinary current Huntsman innards, no problem here. But then: scales not fittted properly - space between each scale and the liner behind it all around -, rough finishing on the scales edges, thinnest possible exterior liners, 3 out of 4 wrong T&T making it impossible to remove with the nail (they used a different variant that does not work on 91 mm), wood scales as expected are very thin and the shield is just thin silver painted - overall the package screams "cheap!".

One of the fancy boxes came unglued as well.

Even the el cheapo Hardwood Huntsman is slightly better then these, at half the price.

Speaking of walnut (nut noce is walnut) these IMHO cannot hold a candle to  the Wenger EvoWoods, no comparison at all - the EvoWoods are beautifully executed and these are exactly at the opposite. The beli wood is more special but the way it is presented :twak:

I'll post couple of photos later to show what I mean.

Few details shown here in some quick pics taken before sending them back. Reality was worse. The various amounts of space between the scales and liners visible all around, dailight could pass through copiously and the brass pivots could be visible there as well. I paid 39 Euro for one before shipping, IMHO wasted money. It looked like badly done custom scales applied on regular Huntsman.

One more of my latest (and only third) Cadet. I love this little SAK. It is such a good case of "they don't make them like that anymore": full thickness blade tang (no cheap washer in there), rock solid ring holder (all new ones that I put my hands one had wobbling) and small blade  :tu:

Overall I'm pleased with the way my beli-handled Forester looks. Perfect? No, but still very attractive. If I hold it up to the light I can see some minor gaps, but the ends are finished much better than yours. Spotty quality control?

Both that I had were disturbingly consistent in their defects, so I'd assume none in this series is too far from their condition. So bad that sincerely if it wouldn't be for the boxes (again, one that came unglued, falling apart) confirming they are LE Victorinox I would have thought that the Italian store put them together with some cheaply done wooden scales. Horrible. I believe you that the Forester may be better but these Huntsman are a disaster, at least the two that I had. Or maybe I should lower my expectations to met Victorinox lowering of production costs  >:(

Went to the Victorinox shop and got some cheapish presents to give around, apart from the oil which is mine.

Gotta love mislabeled auctions...  just picked up this Lumberjack listed as a My First Vic and paid 2/3 what one is up to already, still with 4 days to go. AND that one looks a lot worse condition than this one.

I scored a Wenger donor for $26.  Thanks to PTRSAK I have to have a go at playing with Wenger parts now.  :D

I want to get those scissors on a cadet and have a split spring for them.  That wrench looks like it needs a new alox home as well.

  Like you didn't have enough to do already....

I'm sure that file would be usable too..

I've got hold of a second Wenger Tradesman so I'm going to try the pliers in a 84 Vic next.

Courtesy of Amazon, my Alox Electrician just arrived today, just a couple hours ago.  This thing is high quality and lightweight.  I am surprised and impressed by the large and thick knife blade, as well as the rest of the tools.  Definitely pleased.

My Christmas gift, which I ordered from France in mid-November, has apparently been sitting in Atlanta since the 16th. My birthday present, which I ordered last week from Switzerland, showed up this morning.

Classic 16, Classic 15, Junior 03, and RangerGrip 155.

Merry Christmas everyone!

listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky,
is by no means a waste of time
