Ideas is about all I have, but nothing solid; hope to find out.  My best guess is a laser cut of some type because it's very precise and clean.  Maybe a special waterjet could be used, I'm not that familar with that.  The top side cut is wider than the bottom, so matbe that's a clue for someone.

Really stunning knives  and great idea for the pictures

Just getting started on this whole SAK addiction thing but my latest is the Victorinox Sportsman. I struggled to find one at first but eventually found a UK seller on eBay. It is my EDC for the Office and is mostly subjected to peeling fruit and cleaning my nails, hence the Sportsman being a best fit :P

Oh and I have a 111mm Soldier waiting for pickup at the post office

You wont regret it - I've been EDCing my CT34 (ruby) for over a decade and I don't know of a more useful SAK for urban tasks.  As a computer tech I find the CT34 especially useful, but that bit driver is great for a LOT of tasks.  I use the small blade for opening packages, it gets a bit gummy but my large blade is still sharp and clean for other tasks - when I get home a bit of isopropyl alcohol gets the gummy crud off the blade and a quick strop gets it sharp again.

I might buy myself a Sapphire one as a spare if I can find some spare money for that.

Sportsman is a cracking SAK IMO, I also enjoy the Wenger equivalents; the Commander or Evo 10. :tu:

Very nice picture - is it your work? (HDR and postproc. ?).

(This knife is very useful, I am affraid 84 mm models do not contain scissors at presence. Wenger equivalents as Gareth wrote are perfect as well, maybe more favourite for me than Vic.)

Photography is a hobby of mine and that photo was quickly taken with the humble iPhone4 and processed using the camera+ app. I have proper gear but the iPhone can't be beat for a quick photo, I would call it my EDC camera :D

Welcome .banjo.!!

You made a great choice there, and also with the 111mm Soldier.  Between those two knives you'll get to really understand the variation and depth available in the SAK.  Those are two pretty differnt knives, and really great representations of their frame size.

The Wenger Commander Snife Waves was my first SAK ever, and I loved it. It was the one that got me into all this. It's still one of my favorite tool configurations, next to the Traveler.

I don't have one yet. But I'm drooling over the all black alox with black tools. I'd sell most of my "other" knives for that one.
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?

Cool, you don't see many of those around. Maybe because they don't get confiscated so often and end up in lots on ebay  :-\
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

Just been digging through my collection (and while its not my latest SAK it is the latest out of the big box of misc SAK's) and have to say I do like the early 80's Wenger Soldiers with the slightly textured blade

Shows better in close up :)

This is an 81 :)

Flea market in Zurich tomorrow so maybe a few more for the big box :)

I got this Green Alox Minichamp from Swissbianco at the Blade Show yesterday.  My dilemma is now to decide whether to give the green or silver one to my dad for Father's Day... :ahhh

..... any idea on how they make those blade patterns

I've got the answer from Vic customer services. They user a laser to cut the ornaments and the tiny particles in the cuts are beads from polishing preocess.

Stormdrane, that green one is just  I would keep that one for sure. I hope on getting a hunter green cadet from a fellow member. That and the baby blue like on some of the seaman are my favorite alox colors.

I've not bought any SAKS for a few months, so when a I spotted someone selling a few in need of repair / TLC jumped at the chance.
Ended up with an envelope arriving with 2x climbers, a camper (without the camper logo on the scales), a compact - which needd lots of tlc, a spartan and a 58mm classic sd in black.  All have cleaned up well so far, the compact still needed a resharpen / blade re profile.
Next day could not resist a bargain priced explorer, so no more buying saks for another few months !
