The GAK arrived today in Germany!  :salute:

I hope to use it this weekend, and take it on a night cache next friday.

First impression: not as heavy as I thought it would be, and the tools are easier to open than I expected. The saw looks good, but I am afraid to use the screwdriver and the bottle opener on top of the saw  :ahhh

First thing to do: sharpen the blade  :pok:

You should be careful with the saw, it's pretty sharp and aggressive :P

Did someone tried the screwdriver and the bottle opener? Does the saw twist? Is this "concept" efficient?
I'm just curious.

PICTURES PICTURES  :pok: :pok: :pok: :pok:
OK, today I was able to to try the GAK. I am currently at my parents, they live at the river Rhine. The river had high water last week, and there is lots of wood around. I tried the saw (works great!), the blade (it isn't very comfortable for me, the saw is in the way and makes it uncomfortable to hold) and the awl (works great, but I managed to cut myself by using it  :ahhh)
I am planning to get a little piece of plastic tube to cover the saw, so that I can use the bottle opener and the screwdriver without hurting myself on the saw.

Here are the pictures:

Together with the old soldier and the Trailmaster (similar to the new GAK, but not exactly)

Testing the saw, but this piece is a little bit too large  :P

This one is better  :D

Done  :tu:

Testing the blade:

Testing the awl

Ouch... (no need to worry, the cut isn't deep at all. Just a few drops of blood. I didn't need a plaster or anything)

Good work  :D (This was done by my father... will keep us warm for a few days)

Nice environment...

Enjoying the sunset  :tu:

(I am not left handed, I just used my left hand on the pictures to hold the knife, I needed my right hand to take the pictures. I couldn't figure out how to make sharp pictures with my left hand...)

The combo tool is easier to use if the knife still has it's saw cover...unfortunately they are very often missing.

Thanks for your comments  :)

I am back home now. I didn't have the chance to try out the GAK anymore over the weekend (family stuff, you know...).

The combo tool is easier to use if the knife still has it's saw cover...unfortunately they are very often missing.
That looks good! I didn't know that there was such a thing. Makes sense  :tu: I will try to make something similar out of a piece of tube. Of course you can't leave it on the saw all the time, but better than nothing, and you could use the other tools on the saw.

I have finally found a piece of tube that fits on the saw. It is not very tight there, but you can use the bottle opener quite well. You grab the tube together with the saw anyway so the tube stays in place. Must take a picture...
