Auction to support SOSAKOnline
on: September 10, 2007, 02:33:32 AM
Scibeer has cranked out another beautiful mod to be auctioned off for SOSAKOnline.  Even if you aren't a SAK enthusiast, I suggest you have a look at it because this thing is amazing!

It's posted in my blog:

http://www.sosakonline.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=225&Itemid=1

And it's in the SOSAK forum at www.Knifeforums.com if you want more up to the minute info.

I realize I'm probably going to get smacked for this...

but... what's so special about it?  I guess I don't know enough about SAK's to be impressed with it...

Well, it's a similar configuration to the discontinued three layer Yeoman:

http://www.sosakonline.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=74&Itemid=35

Only in this case it has a fourth layer with a wood saw added.  The lack of a wood saw is probably the only complaint anyone has ever had about the Yeoman, and Bill's work is indistinguishable from the factory issue (other than the fact that the factory never issued the models he makes!), at least in my experience.

With all due respect to other modders out there, and there are some great ones(Spork and Spudley to name two),Scibeer is one of the best modders going. He's built up more than one mod that makes you wonder why Vic hasn't done it before,it's so logical.

It closed off at $125 last night- it was a close race right till the end, but in the end, no one can beat the Catman!

What amazed me was the small fight we had at the end!  I had expected the price to discourage some folks, but it didn't seem to.

Of course when you think about all the work that goes into rebuilding a SAK by hand, not to mention the various models that have to be sacrificed to provide the components, how much would you expect to pay?

How many years would your son have to be sold into slavery for to have raised that much cash? :P

Seriously, it could have been for his own good to learn a trade while he's still young!
