My new Nessmuk
on: August 27, 2010, 08:35:00 PM
Amici,
Since I recently picked up a custom Lee Reeves double-bit hatchet, I decided to top it off with a custom Nessmuk pattern made by Fiddleback Forge in the great US of A.

This Nessmuk has a 4" deep-bellied blade of 3/32" thick hand ground O-1 high carbon steel at 59-60 Rc. Fiddleback also left the blade with a primitive surface finish suitable for the classic Nessmuk design.

A great deal of time and attention was spent on the shaping and the smoothing of the handle to maximize comfortable long-term use. The handle scales are highly figured stabilized Lacewood over a full tang. Measures 8-5/8" overall and weighs 5.0 oz.

The sheath is a of the pouch style suitable for bushcraft and comes with a loop for a Swedish fire steel.. I believe the sheath was made by JRE Industries due to the overall design, fit, and of course their logo at the rear..

A great deal and quite affordable.. If interested, go to www.fiddlebackforge.com and I'm sure Andy will set you up with a Nessmuk of your own!

Cheers,
Serge
